Hello,
I have this solar panel at the same time ordered the "PortaPow USB power meter" and as a buffer battery to "Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus".
What is surprising is the total size of only 33 x 28 cm, folded to get to 16.5 x 28 x 4.5 cm (L, H, T).
Other manufacturers with 'given' 14W power usually have more than twice the length.
The solar surface is 2 x 12.5 cm x 22.5 cm (~ 560 cm²)
On the back are 2 bags in each is a USB connector type A.
Included is a USB cable with the following adapters:
Mini USB, Micro USB, Nokia cable (2mm hollow jack plug) and an iPod cable (no Lightning).
Now for the main, the performance:
On 07/01/2014 I could via a USB connector measure the following values: (held directly to the sun, cloudless sky)
The following values are read and charged by USB power meter is my iPad, because the maximum charging current 2 A
amounts to more than the original power supply.
The open circuit voltage is 5.2 V
08:30 Clock 1.31 A at 4.48 V (5.9 W)
09:30 Clock 1.40 A at 4.52 V (6.3 W)
10:30 Clock 1.37 A at 4.90 V (6.7 W)
11:15 Clock 1.49 A at 4.80 V (7.2 W)
-
at 14:30 clock I had 1.47 A at 5.13 V (7.5 W)
More like 1.5 A could not tap my iPad. The problem is with the iPad itself, since it limited without the proper electronic circuit (eg. As geschriben up from the original iPad power supply) the charging current to 1.5A.
So more is possible, but this I can not be measured, because I only have one (1) power meter and the solar panel 2 USB connections are.
It invites to even my Playstation Vita, which normally can only charge originals or power supplies specially manufactured for the Vita.
Most mobile phones are charged at about 1.0 A (5 W). That is already the morning therefore lies at the full capacity.
Buffer memory:
A buffer battery is highly recommended in general for solar panels. One important reason is the voltage stabilization
Example: Once a cloud rushes past, it invites example in Apple products because of an error no longer, because the voltage collapses.
The "Goal Zero Guide 10 Plus" I ordered, because you can run eneloop batteries so (1800 charging cycles) and it is simultaneously charged and charging other devices via its USB port.
Total capacity see. With other Power Batteries has approx 3100mAh (at 3.7V). Perfectly adequate as a buffer.
It invites other devices with a maximum of 1.5 A, unfortunately, it is charged only with a maximum of 0.84 A throttled via USB.
Although it has a special solar connection, which is then charged up to 1.5 A at 6.5 V (7 W), but is only supported by its own (very) expensive solar panels (was clear ..)
Many buffer batteries (Power Bank) can deliver up to 2.5 A and 1.5 A (some expensive with 2 A) to be charged with a maximum; but have only 500 charging cycles.
But I also had batteries that can be either charge, or charge other devices, not both together. There's only try.
But most importantly: Ordered battery only with "FBA", otherwise you can the battery White God-Where return if it does not meet your wish [experience ;-)]
PS: misspellings will I give you, if you find any.
