Negative:
- There is a micro dust in the lens of my copy which is inadmissible (outer lens fortunately - no effect other than psychological).
- Reliability confirmed or not in the long term. I used extensively during a weekend and there were times when the device does not turn on 1 stroke by turning the lens. But it is for the exceptional moment after 2 months of use. The unit still gives a real solid feel (note also the very good protection against shocks by the leather case Fuji bought separately - even if it is poorly designed).
- Device very complex off automatic modes (for review, look "X10 fashion chart" on dpreview.com)
- Autofocus sometimes patina, but is overall satisfactory: not the speed of a DSLR for people and moving objects but it is a compact.
- High lights "burned" it's true, the Fuji X10 is not an SLR sensor and has a real weakness on this point. This is the main flaw of this device.
- Battery limited autonomy but acceptable (contrary to what I read before buying the device, it is not a major problem - I have very rarely had to use my spare battery purchased 7 euros on Amazon ...).
- The settings are reasonably convenient to reach (2 customizable buttons) but I really regret it is not possible to have 2 basic only really useful that would be for a specific wheel speed and, dream, another for opening ... The Fuji X-Pro1 and X100 have the ...
Positives:
- A real pleasure to use, it is a beautiful object and that counts a lot becuase you take it with you with enthusiasm, in my case much more than my SLR (!). The best camera is the one you have on yourself?
- Optical near the clarity of a reflex viewfinder (and even better than my Olympus E420 SLR) But still limited by the 85% coverage, parallax and the total absence of information. And unpleasant to use wide angle when the lens hood is screwed on the lens. Well anyway to save battery but also in street photography to trigger quickly (and discover the results later - often very good surprises).
- EXR mode for great results (even when the resolution is reduced from December to June megapixel low light) - the device then has the intelligence to produce bokeh when it is relevant (portraits), etc. - In fact I often trust him and am rarely disappointed.
- The sensor size, greater than the direct competition even if we're still far from an APS-C, provides outstanding image quality for a compact.
- Colors Fuji very impressive especially in light of sunrise and sunset.
- Very limited blurry pictures through the stabilizer - Excellent night shots, really épatants results and it is a pleasure after the silver (I was using only fixed focal opening 1.4 / 1.8).
- Zoom "comfortable" has all focal lengths (2.8 to opening 112mn).
In conclusion, the positive still out for me very clearly at this stage and this is by far the best compact I've ever had (certainly no comparison with my Canon G7 fire which was a compact entry Declutchable range with a very average zoom?). The results would be even better than my old Olympus 4/3 DSLR with a basic zoom (colors and stabilizer)? Very gratifying anyway and made me regain the pleasure of the photo. Relatively speaking, I think this is a small revolution welcome to the world of amateur photography (fine affordable object, optical viewfinder, the sensor and objective very well above average compacts). More great effort to make (the rest feasible) for a compact ideal: a better viewfinder and simpler settings to operate?
