The hand-held scanner performs this task very well! What to pay attention, however, is that the book surface is as straight as possible. Similar to a flatbed scanner slight unevenness cause blurred Ergebnissen.Solange the scanner but flat against the results are very good and not too different from those of a flatbed scanner. Better results when scanning books I know only with Book Eyes.
Very useful is the Mini DisplayPort. It is not indeed sufficient to examine a result in detail. However, it is very useful to look at whether headers, page numbers or footnotes are recorded in full. Also you can see if the result was fairly straight.
However, there are a few small, but not serious disadvantages, which is why I forgive no 5 star:
1. Battery life: The hand-held scanner requires 3 x AAA batteries. At normal alkaline primary batteries is max allow. 500 - scan 600 pages. That's a useful number, but who has the scanners in a Recherchetag in continuous use, the batteries will need to change after one day. As the scanner I have is with lithium primary batteries have not tested.
2. labels on the scan area: Legal and left attached at hand scanner markings indicating the width of the scanning area. However, they are barely visible in a dark library. Here I would find a better contrast marking.
3. When scanning books about 1 cm is cut off: When scanning books you have to be aware that the scanner is driven by a roller. The roller moves once it has contact with the sheet of paper and is pushed over the book. However, the roller is less than 1 cm away from the actual scanning area. Anyone who wants to scan a whole book, loses either the top or at the bottom of about 1 cm. Depending on the cover Number of pages, footnotes or headers are thereby cut off. In addition, you must be discipline, as much as possible to put the roll on the edge. Mostly you have to therefore sides again scan, if you do not remember.
4. Default Settings: Changed settings are not saved. I scan prefer a PDF version and in grayscale. The unit is always set by default to JPG and color. So far I have tried in vain to change the default settings.
5. No Summarizing scans the device possible: pages are always scanned individually. I've found no way to stop the device, make sure the PDFs please summarize in a PDF. Ultimately, I tie the PDFs then on PC.
6. 300 dpi lowest resolution: you can only choose between 300, 600 and 900 dpi. This inevitably leads to very large file sizes. Every now and then I need very height resolutions. However, when I einscanne book pages to read them later on the tablet, I do not need 300 dpi resolutions. Currently I change the dpi arrears on PC. Nevertheless, it would be faster if the device could work by itself with lower dpi.
Despite the negative points mentioned above, I am very satisfied with the product and would highly recommend it. There is a lot of work and it saves me to use the photocopy services of the library.
