Despite the prominent cast the film's many years passed by without looking at me.
Perhaps this is due to the content right, but drove moderately bulky film title that looks more like a documentary than a work based on facts Adventure Drama.
Director Roger Spottiswoode has a whole range of different movie themes on the creative answer for (including a James Bond film). I like from his early phase only the high voltage thriller Shoot to Kill, I still for a classic Must hold lake after all this time.
In order to cut back a little, I see the present The Children of Huang Shi not necessarily as a Must See at. That's just what it joins to smoothly into an endless series of similar films Couleur.
But I will come to some facts:
the camera is excellent, has atmospheric sequences captured and makes the movie cinema-like.
The actors fit all very good in their roles and have the corresponding feeling for the characters to be displayed. The child and adolescent roles characterize this Movie by high high Acting.
For me there was a nice reputation in reunion with John Woo's action star Chow Yun-Fat with age-related quieter, but very entertaining performance.
Crowd scenes (about 10,000 extras and no CGI soldiers) form the framework for military short and violent war scenes. The effort was worth it. For a 12er rating there are some very awful representations. But one should not expect any prevailing Action Parts in The Children of Huang Shi. The film is finally a drama and not a superficial film shooting.
The bottom line is for me little blame and praise for this film, even though I realize that I can not recommend that all movie fans the strip.
