I too am one of the Playstation game pioneers. Playstation (as they still do not "PS one" was :-), PS2, PSP, PS3 now. And of course: RR is a cult, for me in time rather opaque console swamp with Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64 and the other smaller platforms one of the main arguments zuzulegen a console. It must have been the Xbox 360 version, which has eventually given me a motivation kink. Nevertheless: A new Sony Playstation MUST in my opinion and history have a Ridge Racer version, and so came to MotorStorm also RR7 into the house. Maybe that was the problem: If you take the cult factor and the allure of "drifting until the doctor comes" out, then I remember nothing more speaks for RR. The routes are (apart from the fact that they mostly come from the Xbox 360 version) plenty uninspired, the graphics are nice, but to bonbonig and especially far below the possibilities of PS3 (MotorStorm example shows what the PS3 on track graphics really can), the opponents are "boring". In short, the 'wow' factor, the one else had any RR version, will not be set.
The stars above but clearly because Ridge Racer in its positioning as an arcade racer without technical right to correct collision detection, damage model and licensing of original vehicles has a unique selling point and fun. Whether that justifies the purchase, everyone must decide for themselves ....
