I'd like a comment about the Lumia 920 itself and only a few words about Windows Phone 8 saying Windows Phone is a matter of taste, as well as all other operating systems also. Each operating system is precisely adjusted to have specific needs, no operating system can combine all needs. Windows Phone is slim, super fast, extremely clear and chic. Even for the 50+ smartphone newbie to learn very quickly. Personally, I find it most comfortable of all operating systems. First of all: it gives me time to focus on things other than my phone. But who is a total technology freak, all day like playing around on settings, always something new to discover and would always take care of his cell phone, which will be bored with Windows Phone. In that case I would rather resort to Android. go iOS is in its current form is actually between two stools because it is not very flexible as Android still so beautiful to personalize as Windows Phone. But even here there are fans and I think everyone should be happy with his machine, because you need not try to persuade. I like this. Hater posturing no longer hear. It starts a religion to be what system you use. There should be more to life. Everyone has just different desires and needs. My best be met by Windows Phone.
To the device itself:
- Weight and Style: No, it's not too heavy. I also hesitated because of the specified weight. But it is definitely not too heavy. The weight fits absolutely to the haptics (feel to the touch) of the phone. I had really never been a pleasant phone in the mobile phone (in addition to the Lumia 800) it feels like a flatterer. Especially with the black velvet surface. Know this Tumbled stones? Just as the Lumia feels. I think it is just very much in their hands and there simply adjusts to the weight. It is by no means so that the device is tiring difficult.
The design itself I find a lot better than it looks in pictures or in the store. There is something else really to hold the device in your hand and use it. I highly recommend it. Compared to the iPhone: The iPhone is definitely well designed, but it must be admitted also that it's just got very edgy and cool technology, I personally feel the iPhone in your hand and the ear as to angular and unnatural. For Lumia would probably say very ergonomic compared.
- Processing: Incredibly well. From one solid piece. It feels just solid. There are test video (not from Nokia) which passed over the unit with a car or there is repeatedly thrown on the asphalt. It just continues to operate without damage. And dares you the device actually. In my opinion, the screen also does not jump as easily as with other devices, since it is not built on tension but gently rounded expires at the edges.
Criticism: the vibration is too loud. But that is not to poor workmanship but simply to the enormous magnitude of the vibration. Other devices simply vibrate half as much but it sounds half as loud. Since Nokia has set other priorities. Unfortunately, you can not directly in the intensity setting menu. Possibly via an app.
- Screen: Very good, I would have only an AMOLED display desired because of the beautiful black level. But I'm also so completely satisfied. The display is very black and the attention to detail is just great. Colors are of course represented. The huge resolution makes a big difference to the resolution of other mobile phones. I also find that the screen has exactly the right size. Larger would be too big, sometimes little annoying when viewing website. By the way: The display is so well resolved, that even in portrait mode an entire website can represent in one piece on the screen, yet the smallest font is shown still sharp. Then of course you need good eyes. For comparison: My 15 inch PC monitor has a lower resolution.
Touch: The display can be in fact perfectly operated with gloves. Even an operator with a spoon or the like is possible.
- Camera: Wow I thought oh well, who exaggerate but all No Camera is madness. I own still a very good Pentax SLR camera, but with Snapshots in the dark makes the Lumia definitely no worse images. (Clearly, the long-term exposure it can not ran, but I'm talking about click, done in a second) The exposure is just phenomenal and the image stabilizer help enormously even to remain without shaking. Whenever I show sample images compared to my Lumia 800 believed me not (because you have yet certain the flash removed) until I bring before. Incidentally, the LED flash is actually already approached a real flash. Also I have never seen in a mobile phone. The focal length (detection area) is great. You get a great deal on a shot. Who really likes to pictures can not ignore the Lumia. Clear in the bright one notices not make much difference to iPhone or Galaxy but if we are honest: Who has not been annoyed by unsuccessful party snapshots in the gloom? Exactly the days are gone now. I am delighted because over and over again about it.
- Sound: Call quality is the best I have ever experienced. It sounds as if the Gesprüchspartner are in the next room. The Lumia has 3 microphones, recorded conversations with the ambient noise and adjusts accordingly.
But what is even more beautiful and is unfortunately hardly advertised by Nokia: The Lumia 140 can record up to dB SPL without distortion. In other words, no sound distorted booming concerts more, but crystal clear. Even bass is transmitted tired. (Also, there are sample videos). The camera does the rest, and also takes in low light beautifully and in full HD on.
The speaker itself is great, you can be quite noisy without hearing roar.
- Battery life: Really good. There is a good app that records the duration and displays them in a graph. Result: In pure stand with W-LAN, Bluetooth on, 3G, Skype, Mailabrufung with Push + 2 hour interval, Skype, Whatsapp etc. to lose the battery about 1% per hour (about 100 hours duration.) , In intensive operation with games, surfing, listening to music, Watching movies about 7% - 14% per hour (about 7-14 hours running time.). Incidentally, the term increases after the first few days but enormous and you get loose in normal use through the day.
I personally do not believe in built-in battery. However, the change of the Lumia appears to be simple. There are also plenty of instructional videos.
I would recommend the Lumia 920 absolutely recommend!
