Often, Tommy dreams he is a shark. Worrying different, condemned to solitude. But powerful, athletic, independent. He knows everything about sharks and dream to swim among them, to forget his illness and frailty. The metaphor runs throughout the book, Joseph Monninger built his story on this fine line between heaven and hell, tragedy and fairytale. He said simply beauty and nastiness of the world, the power of friendship and love. Difficult to resist the charm of this solar novel whose main episode takes place on a beach, when Tommy and his sister will meet two surfers brimming with energy and generosity, when light, at least for a while, will conquered the night.
