Samsung BD-C6900 3D Blu-Ray Player (3D, HDMI, 1080p upscaler, DivX) pearl black (Electronics)

Customer Review

Reason to buy:

I did not make me search for my first Blu-Ray player so easy and took my well over 6 months so time. If you own a Samsung TV set was clear to me that the Blu-ray player should be also from Samsung in order to take advantage of Anynet, so the operation of both devices with a single remote, can. After initial research to point out quickly that many players get through quite decent performance, but are quite noisy. After further research I came across the C6900, which was reviewed here largely positive, but at the time was the price quite violently.

When I was about to order, the D6900 from Samsung was announced. A similar player with a few sea 3D options, a TV tuner and TV programmme take the opportunity on a connected USB device.
So I waited a few weeks and again awaited first feedback to D6900. Conclusion: It is very much to be loud and the TV pictures can not be read on a PC. Thus, the choice was made, the C6900!

Optical Impression / delivery:

The package, which was very quickly delivered is incredibly light. The player is well packaged with a few accessories and the scratch-prone locations are protected with protective films. The design is, in particular by the light effects on the front (which can be turned off by the way) very chic. Processing I can nciht great judge, because I have no comparison models. But is moved as this player ey not great, I think it's perfectly adequate. the USB port on the front is protected by a small flap, which you might know from Samsung mobile phones.
In addition to the player are included, of course, the remote control including batteries, a detailed manual obviously (I habs not open) and an RCA cable in. The Necessary HDMI cable seeking man, as has been said several times, in vain.

Construction and equipment

The structure is straight forward. Set the unit to the desired location, connect player and TV using an HDMI cable to each other and then the current can already ran. I have additionally a LAN cable for Internet use connected (alternatively is also WiFi). A sound system I have not connected, but the speakers of the TV set used.
Anynet, so the use of a remote control for TV and Player (only with Samsung!) Was automatically detected and set.
In a clear menu key settings are performed. Here no one is overburdened. The network setup is done completely automatically and goes quickly.
Then it is possible to update (latest firmware) to install, this process took about 15 minutes with me and also is totally automatic.
After a short time the player is therefore ready for use and you can let off steam. First, a transition in the settings menu to make additional worth adjustments. In the menu itself at any point is always well explained. However, the German translation went wrong at one point. Thus, from "skin", so the background image, the "skin".

Play Blu-Rays

As a Blu-Ray player to play primarily Blu-Ray device. This makes the C6900 outstanding. I've tested so far two films. The Dark Knight and Batman Begins provided an excellent image. Which reminds me here again the comparison to other devices lacking. The launch of Blu-ray is extremely quick, maybe 5-10 seconds and already kanns go.

Play DVDs

I have only briefly tested, we I was pleasantly surprised. A very nice picture, easily worked better than my previous DVD players, but of course can not serve up a Blu-Ray.

Volume or operational noise

After inserting the disc, you can take the reading true. Then the unit is whisper quiet. Just occasionally you hear a very quiet and gentle read in really quiet scenes.
Otherwise, the device is obviously not a mux on its own.

Media player function

The unit can play a variety of multimedia files, which are located on the connected USB storage. Here, both USB sticks and external USB drives are easily recognized. I've tried a lot of different sources. MPEG, MPEG2, DivX, XviD, WMV ... everywhere no problem! Only the FLV format did not recognize the player in my test. I find now but not so disturbing. When playing a video from a USB device you have the possibility to change the size.
When it comes to music I had just MP3s available if he reads WMA or similar, I do not know. The playing surface is nicely designed. If the MP3 file has a cover, this is also displayed.
To consider the possibility photos I have not tested.

Remote

Already I have addressed Anynet used the opportunity for a remote control device 2 Samsung to use. That works wonderfully and is automatically recognized. Even if a remote control anything can not, so the most important functions, however, are all available. Furthermore, an advantage in the matter: The remote control signals must not be sent to the player, but they are sent to the TV set. So the player can still be stowed somewhat camouflaged and is still good achieved by the remote control.

Internet @ TV

Somehow always diligently advertised, but actually it sit a very unnecessary gimmick. There are apps like TV Movie, YouTube or Google Maps available, but the navigation is a disaster. This feature is absolutely useless. If you like the Internet, which should go to the PC. Who does have the Internet on TV, should connect his PC to the TV. But that feature Internet @ TV brings my opinion nothing

AllShare

This is the name the way to look at data over the network from another PC and then play them. Sound for me really promising, but I buried the feature for me quickly. To use the feature is not enough about the normal file sharing on your PC. No, you have to download Manager of Samsung on his PC, install and share relevant files a Share. Then the player should then find these files from the network. That was too much for me, especially as I am of Samsung software (GRAVEL!) Done eh not much. I've had enough to connect storage devices via USB.

Conclusion

I am completely satisfied with my first Blu-Ray player. The thing that was important, he met outstanding: it can play Blu-Rays and DVDs quietly and in my opinion, great quality. Furthermore, the Media Player for USB storage is beautifully designed. Anynet also works wonders. Two unnecessary features (Internet @ TV and AllShare) are in place, but this does not bother me. Perhaps others have so yes more joy.
Overall, definitely a strong buy recommendation. I can think of nothing that could induce me, the players subtract a star.
