I must have killed the internal soundboard when exchanging the hard drive of my Mac mini and therefore ordered me these external TerraTec AureonDualUSB soundcard.
Stick unpacked, plugged in, connected the optical output of the amplifier and the audio output in OS X amended as described in the Quick Start Guide ... Done. Has lasted less than 5 minutes with the unpacking this was the longest well. And do not forget: the sound is also great.
Conclusion: I'm thrilled!
