I never felt the urge to date for a review for a video game, but with bloodborne time seems to have come.
Short indicated my history in order to classify my attitude to bloodborne can: about 100 hours Demon's Souls, Dark Souls about 200 hours, approximately 400 hours Dark Souls 2 (here 50% 50% Single player PvP).

Now that I've played through delay 47 Hours Bloodborne. I have had very intense game sessions. I also played with bloodborne partly with Tunnelbkick, the gamepad often could not put it down and have at the end of a session already thought about how I'm going to the next start. Have the PS4 wutenbrannt after umpteen unsuccessful attempts at this or that final boss off to them an hour later with newly burgeoning hope and adapted tactics again. My review is therefore to be understood primarily as whining at a high level. Also Bloodborne is the game experience and the intensity over the majority of other, similar establishments located Games. But if a game developer From Software as with its predecessors, presents such, they must be measured also on precisely those masterpieces.

But now the core statement: For me it is not the highlight of Souls series. What makes me turn to attack, because it is the developers would always rely on criticism: it does not carry a "Souls" in the name, should be self-contained. But who succumbs not the temptation to compare what is on offer with the previous titles of From Software? And right here offers Bloodborne for me (mind you: for me!) Only one point more: the level of detail and the design of the environment. Say more graphic details, more destructible objects and the like. In general, the art design is overwhelming, but has thus just beginning also blinded me and of the shortcomings (which I for those holding) distracted.

FACT: In all other respects Bloodborne was consistently reduced: fewer weapons, less equipment, fewer opportunities for development of the character played. And since it does not help if the developers reckon with all the runes and the transformation options more weapons than in the predecessors would result ... What is disguised so that is clearly reduced programming. It must now only a handful of weapons and armor, designed and balanced, taking into account the possible upgrades up to today. The rest of the itemises variety of weapons and their styles results from the usable runes and the transformations. This is a sham and should of saved programming of work distracted (which was on the other hand partly invested in the intense atmosphere - in order that I recognize).

But almost more annoying is the reduced amount of clothes and armor: not just a little less, but 10% felt the usual extent. Although the garments look of stylish, but with the reduced number and the fact that clothes no longer can upgrade (no +3, +5, +10 more), lost identification and individualization potential with the created character.

How great it was still recently in Dark Souls 2 (not even the highlight of the series), to optimize his equipment always! Finally, the equipment load acted directly on the mobility of the character of (was completely painted with bloodborne). Perhaps still save a few grams of weight in order to lead the stronger but heavier weapon with the lighter armor can. This curiosity, what I might find next. What stronger armor? What new weapon? In what armor I invest my precious forged materials?

At the end of bloodborne I was still wearing the Yharnam Hunter robe and swung the blade of grace. Why? Especially because there is unfortunately only marginal differences between weapons and armor between (or clothes). It was simply not necessary or not attractive enough to try something else. A new garment often offered just 10 points more protection against, for example piercing damage, like it was worse at other values ​​to exactly those 10 or even more points.

As I am still happy to be able to buy a new weapon or a new armor as a reward for a tricky passage or for defeating a violent end boss from the merchants that was a lot better than the one used so far with the predecessors. And all happened during the game over and over again - somewhere there was still better equipment. And it is this curiosity and addictive fever, how I can develop and equip my character, I went completely into Bloodborne. It just germinated no interest in trying to expand the figure - they should just kind of defeat the boss and can bring me forward.

Mir is too succumbed to the temptations of the modern, more accessible gameplay Bloodborne. Fast paced action and less complexity. Another good example: There is no accelerator, Wonder bells etc. more - magic has been reduced to an applicable means the square button "Item". With mercury balls as "Mana"? WTF? That's too much for me oversimplification.

The second thick SHOWSTOPPER for me is the online or PvP mode which me perhaps at the bar could hold. But again, From Software has built a big drawback, so that just will not set the interest: I enter into another world, be it as a red "Phantom" or co-operative partners, the life bar of my character is reduced by one third, and ( Rumored) attack power reduced. Of course I understand the intention of From Software behind: Who dares to attack other players to prove kindly that he is also handicapped in a position to win. But here From Software seems to have forgotten the community: The has used for example in Dark Souls 2 invasions as a red phantom to align fair PvP battles - including Fight Club, and the like. With the currently implemented in bloodborne Mechnanismus such duels means of sinister bell are completely pointlessly.

But also in the co-op to reduce the life bar is spielspaßverhindernd: I am called by another player to help in the fight against a final boss, I fight also with the mentioned shortened life bar, while the life points are increased in said boss! Well, yeah, the co-op game will be challenging. But the player who calls another to help because he in his single-player game alone can not defeat a particular boss, good is a boss fight with such harassment unfortunately nothing.

In all previous Souls games I felt immediately after the urge to the Next Game + to start. Bloodborne however, I already sold ...

I hope I can prove that I give Bloodborne According the criticisms only 3 stars. Completely left out I have the technical features, where other processing that do not affect me to the game: the supposedly not quite next-gen worthy graphics (gameplay does not necessarily follow from good graphics) and the load times to the death (similar to long loading times, there were, for example, even when Demon's Souls -. can be well used as a breather to his tactics, for example, after several defeats to reconsider opposition to a final boss.).

You notice here writes a disappointed Souls player who has been looking forward to sink again hundreds of hours in From Software's new stroke of genius. That's so not occurred. By itself, however, provides Bloodborne a great game experience and suggests other games of this genre still by far. But who is looking for more depth and complexity, the predecessor should look more closely.
