- Some videos * problems with DTS sound has in * (regular sound dropouts every 10s)
- Hard disk (s) is / are permanently active even in standby
- Newly introduced 24p mode is incorrect (jerky ... kind of ironic)
Personally, I find the media player really very good. Since he does not make a sound, he is far superior to a PC / laptop in the home theater environment in this respect. Unlike many statements on the Internet the WD TV is very comfortable digital sound (DTS, ...) via HDMI on. A few cables and the chic, simple operation should the WAF (Woman Acceptance Factor) increase significantly.
HD material, for example in the MKV container poses no problems - if the video does not just Full HD has (1080i / p) and DTS sound. Then there is my experience in skips. Is converted: (mkvtoolnix Tip) or DTS audio to AC3 (Tip: Popcorn Audio Converter, unfortunately only Windows) but remediable by the video re gemuxt - Annoying - hence the deduction of points. Sounds worse than it is, namely running on a current computer in a few minutes. Important to note: the WD TV can * not * internally convert to Stereo DTS. So if no receiver or TV has that support, who gets no sound in movies with DTS !!
The 24p output is supported since this firmware. A particularly good idea it is not. Instead of avoiding stuttering when panning etc., suddenly constantly occur. Therefore, one can prefer Use and is happy with the image quality :-)
Firmware updates go super easy and very worthwhile !! Unfortunately, there are currently no updates, even if a few features, such as movie from DVD image Select (DVD Menu, the Small apparently not), copy movies on connected hard drives, hard drives from standby, are still missing.
Really good device with small defects (but almost everything somehow remedied) at an affordable price!
