The Spotify feature sounds simple on (and the service is really easy), but it has taken me forever, until the penny dropped. This little green speaker icon was previously certainly never occurred to me. I also found while browsing the SpotifyConnect Info page no explicit mention. Perhaps this notice may indeed help many as slow-witted users ...
The Spotify application Likes now almost even better than the Internet radio, because I can customize the selection of music to my wishes and I did not leave a Progammdirektor. For this reason the purchase was worthwhile for me. Why? Of course you can transfer Spotify content also via Bluetooth to the receiver. The advantage of Pioneer's solution, however, is that I was not obliged to remain within Bluetooth range of the receiver the phone, but it may be located within the wireless even in another room. At the receiver, however, can only rudimentary functions (start / stop / pause / next track / return) make, browsing, playlist selection, etc. remain with the smartphone.
The radio part is not actually required of me, because all relevant radio stations received in top quality on the internet and can be stored in the favorites. In poor FM reception conditions can be -an advantage over simpler equipment- off the stereo signal and replace it with Mono. The HM 72 variant with DAB reception is for ambitious listener symphonic works maybe a glass cleaner sound than bring the station received via the Internet, usually with 128 kbps (Germany radio) to 160 kbps (Dylanradio) transfer rate in MP3 quality. The course also depends on the local bandwidth and above all the wireless conditions.
The advertised in some item descriptions "docking station for iPod / iPhone" consists of a ridiculous plastic stand, in which the original USB cable of your iPhone / -Pods to be plugged. The other side comes into the front USB receiver. Gift.
It should be mentioned yet the network setup: perfect menu navigation; the device via WiFi not even lasted 5 minutes. A simple and convenient Wizzard password setup required could be the child's play, even without special knowledge of networking. The stream content from the network or DLNA servers worked right away. Because of the mentioned internet connectivity has this possibility for me hardly importance. My years gathered on the local hard drive baby can not anywhere in the world via Spotify and radio network ferret, so that this possibility is of course important.
A word to a specific function: the activation of the so-called Quick Start is booted within 5 seconds the system. This is awesome! (My Philips Streamium took forever)
The intrinsic qualities of the plant naturally plays out in the Sound. Originally I wanted to buy only the HM82 receiver because my Philips boxes themselves were described in prestigious reviews as balanced and homogeneous. Then I put 2 surprising things that:
1. HM 72 and HM 82 receiver is not at all different in the technical specifications, there are apparently identical devices
2. The facilities are less expensive than the solo equipment partially with (!) Boxes. Anyway, that was with me at the time of purchase that. Peculiar distribution policy!
So I bought the cheap model with allegedly somewhat simpler boxes and wanted to keep the Philips boxes actually. But before I could verify my decision through a hearing test.
I tested it surprised in neutral position and was, if not quite from the socks. Because what comes out of the fairly small-looking boxes, one rarely hears of this device category. The reproduction is extremely natural and substantially already in the selected linear position in the depths, amazingly well let down and very differentiated. The decision to replace the large and actually very good rated Philips speakers against the smaller boxes Pioneer lasted only 10 Hörsekunden!
The volume scale comprises 50 continuously adjustable level, operated with a large, grippy and valued knob. This is a perfect solution, because a cumbersome upscaling via tapping the plus or minus buttons like on the Philips system is unnerving. When volume level 38, the tolerable upper limit for me was reached in a 45 m²-space, with not so booming, but very powerful bass coupled with crystal-clear quality of overtones and without a hint of distortion or overdrive. It's amazing what comes out of this relatively small boxes! For party freaks is also still leaves activate a function "Power Bass". If that's not enough, you can connect an additional subwoofer to a specially designated separate output. The neighbors, or hearing care professional will be delighted ...
CONCLUSION:
A perfectly functioning, noble-designed and acoustically class engineering marvel! I'm excited and looking really frantically for a minus point.
And there is also a: the metal chassis vibrate slightly or tingling at the fingertips when touched. Quite obviously induces the switching power supply leakage current, which can be the way to prove even with a phase tester. The tingling a little irritated and may be disturbing for the fainthearted. These leakage currents are dangerous to humans, according to experts, but for the rather high price of the system you might have the manufacturer provide better potential compensation. I would be interested to know whether this is the case only for my device or other HM72- or HM82 owners have noticed similar?
