I had a little trouble getting used to the writing style of the authors. Their pen is rather choppy, there are a lot of repetition, questions rehashed again and again. So, for a good part of the book, I was going around in circles.
The plot in itself was fun at first, then my enthusiasm has fallen. I found the whole quite nebulous and far-fetched. This is not due to the fantastic side of the story (which instead seduced me) but especially to its denouement. To my mind, there is not really mobile, the end is fast and has neither head nor tail.
On the side of the narrative, we follow the story through the eyes of several characters. Becca our heroine, Mac cop in charge of the official investigation, Hudson's boyfriend in high school and Jessie favorite Becca, and Renee Hudson's sister that investigation to an article. We also make some inroads into the head of the killer.
Separately, I found interesting characters, though not exceptional. However, I was quite disappointed about the relationship between Becca and Hudson. We have no time to enjoy their links, and the whole lacks depth. At times I even found that their romance was too silly, too childish, as if they had remained at the time of high school.
In short, my opinion is somewhat mixed on "Wicked Game". Initially, I liked my reading, but my disappointment was magnified through the pages, and the end was not up to my expectations. However, the authors have good ideas and I think let me try another of their novels.
