Moreover, there is almost everything for free download via the built-in software-Center.
As a player or Windows user you have the following options, if you hang on Windows due to an application:
- Cedega (Games): In order to run a lot, but by no means all, Windows games under Linux. (Chargeable)
- Crossover Games: In order to run a lot, but by no means all, Windows games under Linux. World of Warcraft, Perfect World, Half Life 1 + 2, Counter Strike Source, etc. (extra charge)
- Crossover Prof .: In order to run a lot, but by no means all, Windows applications on Linux. (Paid software)
- WINE: This is the basis Crossover and partly Cedega. This application is free. This, however, is dispensed on the prof. Support and preset profiles.
Ubuntu is getting better, faster and prettier. The next version will appear soon (Lucid Lynx 10:04) and again offers new features, an improved interface and new programs and productive applications.
Who always wanted to try Linux and thus of the blue screens, viruses and the constant re-purchase of more expensive (perhaps even immature) would adopt software, this has now the chance to enter in the Linux world. Every 6 months will see a new, updated and stable version forfre e.
