Unacceptable stench

I have read in advance in some reviews that the mat stinks, and I thought that just the typical "new" odor and shall not be so bad. But if he is! Unpleasant sweet and I had the impression that burned even after the first handling the mat my eyes, but it may be that this was just a coincidence.
As the reviewers have partially mentioned separately from the year 2011 that the mat does not stink, I'm assuming that since the production has changed little. The manufacturer even puts in a piece of paper on which it is stated that the mat is tested for harmful substances and the smell (the so is obviously more than known) through direct packaging is due to the production and can be removed by ventilation.
Since the mat, however, after two days in the open air still stinks so that you can not even walk past it in the apartment without smelling it, I absolutely can not imagine to let my daughter do gymnastics it. I'll return the mat in any case!
The strength of the mat is a matter of taste, I would prefer a thinner mat for yoga, it is however quite strong and I can imagine that you would have a good stand it.
