The HS is beautifully packaged and mediated initially by the optics a high impression. This was then quickly marred when unpacking again, but only cheap plastic, but more can not be expected in this price range. The driver / application installation ran smoothly under Win7 Pro 64bit, which I loaded me the latest driver from the Plantronics HP.
The first experiment with music has the same confident küntslicher great surround sound, with the bass in my opinion absolutely sufficient, a little too much un come across the heights of the midrange a little too underpowered, just typical headset shortcoming. Sonics I complain here but, especially in the price range, at a high level.
Then I was very curious to see how a headset with 2 speakers will produce 7.1 sound. Without further ado, I have Battlefield 3 starts, set surround sound in the game and losgezockt. I was really surprised, the slogan "you hear your opponents before you see them" kept its promises. I immediately wondered how I could so long without such a headset.
The microphone, so I've been told TeamSpeak, provides a good distortion-free quality.
The keys are all located on the left ear cup. The volume control is a rocker who just up the software the signal or down logs and so will change the master volume in Windows. Here is occasionally seen childhood disease: Sometimes the "calibration" of the software seems to go west, so at 0% volume quite a bit is still heard, and sometimes not too tight. The button to activate and deactivate the microphone is also within easy reach and give clear what position it is in. Then there is a button for switching the surround mode. The pressure point is clear to feel, turned it lights up in blue and an icon in the task bar displays the switched-mode Surround. But if you're in the game, you see, logically, no blue lights on his ear, nor the taskbar, here would be another feedback desirable.
Why then I forgive only 1 star?
The initially mentioned cheap plastic made me a line through the sound enjoyment. After nearly 7 months the plasticizer were apparently completely disappeared from the plastic headband with me, making it easy someday "knack" made at touchdown. I have no particular broad skull. The headband was so rigid that not even more a CD (to have an exemplary measure) would have fit transversely between the earcups.
The next headset will definitely go back a surround headset via USB, but not by Plantronics with such a cheap plastic headband. The warranty Plantronics excludes precisely this mistake, as you know there already what because you can get at Plantronics. And legal guarantee after 6 months the burden of proof you need not even bother to try. Amazon itself would have perhaps changed, but I had the headset of his time on the market place at a third party (the no longer exists) buy, because Amazon did not have it in stock.
---------------------------------
Edit:
For the sake of justice, I must add that Plantronics has the headset expect exchanged resist by warranty. Since I am still enthusiastic about the sound, Plantronics has shown generous, but something should not happen as with the bow, and I forgive now 3 instead of 1 star.

Edit, again 6 months later:
The headset is broken again at the "breaking point" (See product images). The plastic has become so hard even when the replacement headset with the time that this time even my wife broke at touchdown. The construction method promotes this also: In the place where the "greatest" work forces at the transition from the bracket in the cylindrical ear holder, the material is formed on the thinnest and most fragile. Mir urges in particular now the impression that this is by design. In short: too expensive for this deliberate engineering poor performance, 1 star.
