I had been several cheap adapter in use and was always satisfied. My last adapter Fenvi worked long wonderful with my 1TB Samsung HD. Now when you switch to a Samsung M9T with 2TB SATA 3 and the new hard disk has been detected only sporadically, rising from the midst of the operation.
A use was not possible and I hoped for the evidence of hardwrk that this problem is due to SATA 3 and with the adapter should not occur. So gritted teeth and spent more money than I really wanted (my old adapter have cost 17 to 25 euros).
As it stands, this adapter has actually solved my problem. At the site of Super Drives my MBP 15 "late 2011 now tinkers a 2TB hard drive.
The only complaint on the adapter (next to the high price):
- Hardwrk has, as mentioned earlier, grub screws fitted with which the drive is fixed. Unfortunately, one of the two screws is not possible with a bit screwdriver as it runs very deep, and the hole is much too narrow. Here you need a small screwdriver. I think that little thought and could have been avoided by a greater opening to the screw. True to the motto "the opposite of good is good intentions", I see clearly still room for improvement.
Who wants to play it safe when it comes to number Komptabilität, comes to the expensive hardwrk adapter currently well past hardly. In this respect, I can recommend it, despite the criticism.
ADDENDUM:
As soon as I had written the review, said goodbye to back my hard drive from the system and did not show up without restarting again in Disk Utility on. Now I have been doing this morning, the hard drive in HD Square Books and my SSD (Samsung 830 512GB) in hardwrk adapter. So far, everything seems to be running without problems, and the SMART values show everything ok
Well, if it stays that way, I'm still happy because my SSD in the old adapter also not running, so I had installed the HD it. In the old adapter evaluating the 2TB hard drive or SSD using Disk Utility no error message was not even possible. I have exposed a few stress tests both drives today and so far everything looks good. Should this situation change, I will of course report.
My Conclusion:
Since it has become possible for me through this adapter a 2TB SATA 3 hard drive to operate next to my SATA 3 SSD, I'll keep it natural. The expected total lack of problems was able to get these adapters, unfortunately, do not provide and therefore I feel it is still considered too expensive. Therefore, devaluation from four to three stars.
At least I have learned that there surely are differences in quality of the adapters, but even the Rolls Royce is not perfect among the adapters. Mind you really were my problems only with SATA 3 drives in the adapter. With SATA 2 I had even in the cheapest adapters never problems.
