Already Version True Image 2010 had at that time the file system backup of my hard drive erased all saved images (the Super Gau during recovery), so I was needed at the time as a backup due to drive crash unfortunately all my images have lost. The software is on the whole only an overpriced facelift of the old versions, which also functioned only modestly (SSD Alignment incompatible zerschossener MBR in return dubbing multiboot systems, etc.)
But back to True Image 2014 Premium:
Because of the private acquisition of True Image 2014 Premium was the new feature Universal Restore with it hardware independent migrate supposed to be possible operating systems, incl. Settings. This feature I had we tested already 3 years ago in a server version "Snap Deploy" with colleagues and not get for functional, so we are working in the company with MDT from Microsoft, but what makes something handmade notwenidg.
To make it short:
- IBM laptop with Win XP Pro destroyed hard drive in the laptop ok
- Operating system from the destroyed laptop should be migrated to other laptop (HP), so hardware-independent recovery
The graphical interface is as usual in klicki klicki style and very easy to handle. When Image process there were several hundred read errors on the hard drive. Hard drive was then connected to Win7 PC, Chkdsk has found no errors. Nundenn, so ignore read errors. The image of the hard disk was then removed on the HP laptop also previously transferred to the Windows XP Pro was installed. All drivers (the original Inf folder) has been in the creation of images made available on USB stick (recommended Acronis).
RESULTS: The import of images worked. Universal Restore appears to have served its purpose ("to patch the operating system" status). When you first start then the disillusionment. Internal mouse and keyboard from the laptop have not been recognized. Excellent. Nundenn, then evenly with external USB keyboard. When logging it hails now error messages from lsass.exe. svhost.exe winlogon.exe. The computer freezes. Nothing to be done even in safe mode!
Conclusion: the Universal Restore is not intended for hardware-independent migrate not need to, at least in my particular case.
Therefore, I would like always advise: Stay away from all Acronis products (!).
