Unproblematic and stylish on black board

Habe mir extra one X99S motherboard SLI Plus gained for this test with a Core i7-5820. Always wanted to test an X99 configuration. The RAM Riegel have heat sinks, but take good care of the ATX board. Be sure to indent properly fixed it - the first attempt I had only 12GB since a bolt had not snapped. Hurt but has neither the memory m'noch the Board.

As CPU fan you should of course take someone who leaves room down if it extends beyond the first slot. The original fan of the CPU manufacturer comes out with the space provided and easy to assemble. Provide sufficient air flow but you should definitely install additional fans, because want to be powered up to 8 memory slots with cooling air. The board temperature increases already with 4 bars to about 40 degrees, but still within the frame. The processor also remains sufficiently cool. Installed also an air-cooled GeForce GTX 960. The housing is a mid-tower with 2 pre-mounted case fans (front and rear) and the possibility to retrofit a water cooler.
As power supply found a 500W 80+ quiet fan use.

Why so much about how to configure? Well, because the thermal conditions at a designed for overclocking configuration play a crucial role. You put namely further 4 Fury and maybe 2 GTX 980 in SLI configuration to quickly reach the limits of air cooling, especially if you order sound insulation uses a largely closed housing. Then you should do from the start thinking about a water cooling system with an external heat exchanger.

But that is not to say that the memory modules are too hot. On the contrary - the configuration surprised by relatively low heating and power consumption at idle - approximately 100 watts. The Rams were correctly identified straight away and ran as advertised as 2666er in 4-channel mode. Since the differences in performance of individual RAM models can hardly be reliably measured on a PC, I can do this, no comparative statement. At most, that the RAM certainly is not a bottleneck.

The only Wermuth drops: the rather high price, what this current high-end components is valid for all.
