Long Story Long:
I have the Bose QC 25 for about a month. He was promoted so that the cable remote control is indeed designed for Apple devices, but also for the greater part works with other devices: ". Many of the functions can also be used with other smart phones so that you can control music and phone call applications effortlessly" (Amazon product description)
In short: Nope. We tested Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 (each floor-Rom) and the Google Nexus 7 (2013). The only function that is reliable is to pause the playback by a simple pressure on the central button. Referring to an Android smartphone to a call by pressing the key, so the call is not placed approximately as expected on the headphones, but the outdoor speaker phone. But you take the call directly on the mobile phone, so it works as expected. Volume up / down does not work, as repeatedly pressing the middle button for changing songs etc. This was known to me from the predecessor, and frankly - I did not really expect that it works smoothly.
This is in my opinion far from the advertisement that is made in the article description and also on the Bose website.
Why I give 4/5 stars if my mobile OS ecosystem is not supported against the advertising message to bad?
+ The performance in terms of the noise canceling has been improved compared to its predecessor once again, the soft (white) noise is less noticeable. In 3 noisy environments, the results are more than satisfactory (office on the road, remote bus, rail travel).
+ In my opinion, great sound for a device in this class. Of course you can not expect top performance - it's also a travel / Noise-canceling headphones, not the Vienna Opera and no concert-PA.
+ You can also enjoy music with a dead battery (after all). Cloudy, with loss of quality, but it's more than any music. Wems not like the headphones can indeed back in your pocket.
+ Comfortable fit - very light, not an unpleasant feeling of pressure in the head and especially not on eyeglass temples. Even after long periods (> 5h) suitable for eyeglass wearers.
Should you buy the headset when you already have the previous QC15? In my opinion, not necessary. The QC25 provides quality of, is the noise-canceling bit better and can now also be used passively with an empty battery, but all this does not justify a new purchase.
What is missing for the fifth star?
1) Call a spade a spade - it is made for iPhones and iPods, everything else works with happiness. Many functions that can be utilized can be no question and is therefore almost in the category advertising brazen lie be filed.
2) Why are not part Bose 3 versions - for Apple, Android and Windows Phone - available? The cable of the headphones can be replaced, the costs should therefore be limited. Too bad that this is not already being implemented, a two complete ecosystems to smartphone operating systems are left out, which is unnecessary.
So if you can do without the cable remote control, with the QC25 gets a great headset that lets you enjoy music in noisy environments or can work in peace.
