Update: Only four stars from me

I FIGHT times five stars out of the Humax HD Fox C, because he convinced me in the overall picture. Twin tuner, easy-to-use, handy remote control, CI + -Modul- and smartcard use, USB, eSATA port and PVR ready (by Twin tuner and eSata precisely even really comfortable, as one of the good old VCR yet know), all at an acceptable price in my view absolutely. Besides: Cable Germany works fine with me. If you so shop around in the market, this device seems to me currently (!) The one to be with the best price / performance ratio, if you "plug & play" and not looking at his receiver wants rumfrickeln yet great with Linux.

Build, connect, get going. Simple menu, well-made device and great image conversion on the TV - so you can work. :-)

Sure, the also already mentioned some prolonged start does not belong now to the appointed strengths of the device. But, I can get over personally. The part is in any case already a very different number than the example of cable Germany offered cheap receiver.

Software Update does not work only on LAN (or if I have understood correctly, via the cable signal), at least with the WLAN module. As of today - - However, this is not first time important because the device was apparently already delivered with a current software, so there is currently no newer are.

Conclusion: From me, there's a strong buy recommendation. Who wants to do something independent of the devices of his cable provider, is served with the Humax here very well. Could even on an older 16: (with analog-only tuners) achieve easy image enhancements because the receiver of course, all the digital programs (whether SD or HD) in the first time recognizes and takes out for the older TV 9-tube TV, which just still going. Since most of us but in the meantime should have anyway more modern TV sets, is at least also the expectable quality and indeed well supplied at the site.

So, unfortunately, I have to cut back on my original enthusiasm something and want the world like here to share it. What's happened in the meantime? A firmware update HAPPENED !!! Since 26.11.2014 a firmware update to version 2.1.19 comes apparently for the device, which I (unfortunately) had been playing with me. Long story short: After the update is missing in me the operating function "channels 1-99 Edit". Or said in German: I can get my number buttons on the remote control is no longer programmed with my wish-TV programs (ie the classics such as ARD 1, ZDF on 2 etc.). An inquiry to the HUMAX Support (after all, they have responded!) Brought to light that now all optimized for Kabelkiosk (because the device for any case only certified) is. That can no longer be changed. Then one has tried me the disappearance more or less as a "feature" to sell and in general, to downgrade to the previous firmware is not possible. With the request for understanding .... bla, bla, bla. So warning to all those who buy the device and does not have cable kiosk in league - either stay away from the device, or at least if it is not too late, stay away from the current (as of today) Firmware Version 1:02:19.
One can of course still use the device on, even if one has nothing with Kabelkiosk the hat, then you have to (re) go way over the annoying my list for its programs but. If only unfortunately somewhat impractical. The numbers on the remote control play program planning document technically anyway no longer relevant. For performance of the installed equipment and the general functionality, I am still with my positive vote, therefore: In principle, a good device!

A word about HUMAX: Uh, yeah. The leave because respect. This equipment seems to Kabelkiosk people completely free hand and take care of the manufacturer's point of view as no longer seems great drum. The drips anyway about the reference to Kabelkiosk from each of the support answers by quite strong.

So, yesterday's was an update for the Humax receiver. I've just let time make, because I thought, much worse it can not be yes. Is it not! Because Ta daaaa, you can now select the preset programs with number keys on the remote control again after all. While there's the option "Edit Channels 1-99" still does not, but at least it is possible the number assignment in the Favorites list now make so that you can eg ARD again put on 1, ZDF on 2 etc. and actually then also with the remote control buttons ( 1, 2, etc.) may appeal. I would say so, the complaints to Humax have therefore paid such that the remote control has regained one of its basic functions are back. But the road on the favorite list to be passed on. But is also not a big problem, because if 1x set, the receiver remembers that too. So, for me, this is again a workable state.
