One in advance as Dominik already noticed: The adjustment of keyboard and functions is not possible, so it is a stripped down version.
This is for me X6 less comfortable and productive as 11th
In addition, I feel X6 compared to 11 as overweight. One has to adjust more parameters to configure efficient tools, less is often more.
ME is Corel Draw against MS Publisher in many respects a better choice and is on top of that a lot more affordable.
Another alternative to Draw is the publishing program Magix Photo & Graphic Designer with Vector.
In Photopaint now the brushes run more precise than version 11, it is now possible, for example freehand and with pixel accuracy to sign without the slash excessively drifts, but it is not yet the precision and accurate guidance as the free PaintNET (I use a Logitech Laser / Bluetooth M555b). Unfortunately no PaintNET dominated PCX, X6 on the other hand already (or still). This makes it possible to store my images without loss of quality, even if this means the storage requirement is a multiple of jpg. Therefore Photopaint is indispensable for me.
I have tried just about everything there is, and Gimp. The only alternative that is worth his salt, the Pixel software Magix Photo Designer 7, which was preinstalled on my new Asus.
About Adobe I can not say anything. I have indeed installed and tried, but quickly abandoned because it just too complicated, was too complicated and too expensive. Corel can I use on the other hand immediately without operating instructions and thick books.
This is true but for X6 only with restrictions: If you want to eg draw a rich, clear line, you must now make a half-dozen parameters first really.
ME was Corel Draw Suite 11 the best thing ever created, because it was a perfect balance of ease of use and performance and versatility.
I feel X6 as little overloaded, especially (paradoxically) this slimmed Home & Student version, which prohibits an individual configuration, operation more difficult.
I see this as a step backwards and thus not without its problems as regards the price for private use.
I run this suite on a Asus N56VZ under Win 8, so far without any problems.
Even on my Toshiba Satellite P875-31R it runs perfectly under Windows 8.
I would have to switch from Corel Draw 11 Suite X6, because version 11 under Windows XP was still running, but then Win 8 no longer.
They could be installed, but crashed system table when you start. The uninstallation also did not work: It will not affect entries in the registry, which in 2013 reported repeatedly TuneUp every time, but every time always resurface although I perform a cleaning. The directories on the other hand can, delete, but manually!
There is one exception: Corel 11 runs under Win 8 on my notebook Medion Akoya P6638 from Aldi. Strange right?

UPDATE v. 15.04.2013
Now I have for my purposes as far as configured went for a few weeks X6, so I have created quite the same working environment as in version 11, in particular the dockers, for example, in Photo Paint for "stains" (actually tools such as spray cans, calligraphy, etc. .) or "effect" (blurring, brightness, fade ...) etc.
The tool settings (size, shape, transparency, blend mode, anti-aliasing ...) are retained after program completion to Gluck.
The software is very stable under WIN WIN 7 and 8 and my satisfaction is virtually absolute.
Only the tool bar on the left and the menu bar can not be individually configured to order and extent do not correspond to my idea. The multiple assignment of some icons make me more to use the selection, which means loss of time (in version 11 I had for each action the right tool - can be selected directly - in the bars "organized").
But it's a matter of habit and not a knock-out criterion, in particular the presence of the low price that is to be absorbed.
The import filter I can edit more files than with PaintNET. The performance roughly equivalent to PaintNET, the tools run - as I said - a trace imprecise and somewhat delayed, but the notice in any case only the professionals who click 4 pixels or more per second.
As a viewer, I use the latest version of ThumbsPlus (9.0). There I among others Photopaint X6 as in software inserted "Open with", so that the software (including file / image) can start directly from the viewer. An SSD goes one step further and makes X6 to a rapid affair.
Otherwise, the software contains all the features that were not isotopes 25 years ago already with regard to diversity and impact. Some of them ordered something different, for example, are all working tools such as brightness, contrast and so no longer "image" but "Customizing" but useful features like "repeat" effect are all still there where they are known.
I increase my rating to full 5 stars.
