An update to the latest firmware is not possible. The device detects the sticks not tried by me 3 USB. All sticks were freshly formatted (FAT32). With inserted sticks the device starts not at all. With an attached USB hard drive (NTFS), the device starts and plays back the found on the plate movie files.

Just is not possible to update formatted NTFS disks.

I send the device back, take some extra cash in hand and buy something sensible.
