Who uses a lightweight DSLR such as the Nikon D40, can save the fairly extensive shoulder pad and take it off until the money is enough for a heavy telephoto lens. Then why not also the built-in Sniper-Strap shock.
The "Pro" version with a swivel head is slightly more expensive than the "Sniper Strap One" or similar Blackrapid R-Strap, but has the advantage that the bottom of the camera in packing up state can not be scratched by a carabiner.
Another tip: My ball bearings squealed and hooked at first light. A sprayer with WD40 oil ended any perceptible friction.
