What can possibly be to the detriment of one or the other here in the system is the thing which must exist for communicating a certain sight. I am currently working with the system, and if so flash2softbox a Speedlight is positioned slightly bad times behind a softbox (And bad ... the Lightning's usually behind the softbox = D), then it also does not ignite. As a wireless system is the reliability ago "probably" already mounted a little better.
ADDENDUM: In the meantime I have sold the ST-E2. The above-mentioned problem with the communication was me sometime annoying because the system simply does not work reliably in certain situations. I work now with a significantly lower radio system which although has no ETTL, but renders its service reliably, and can be combined beautifully with my studio flashes. ETTL the off-camera flash is like something Overrated in my opinion. Often I work manually with the flashes, to escape the ever-changing flash settings Ettl. And in case ETTL can be practical, easy a cable is used which is perfectly adequate for my purposes. (Wireless is indeed sometimes quite like overrated. * Hehe *)
