A few years ago met in Australia, I wanted to try Vegemite times during a British-Australian breakfast and offer and ultimately compare with Marmite. Most of the guests liked neither Vegemite still Marmite on toast her, and Vegemite was preferred by some because of the milder taste (compared with Marmite). In my family there are different views. My son (2 years old!) Loves Vegemite - on toast as on crispbread and various other bread - also together with cheeses or cold meats. My daughter (4 years old), it does not like. My wife has grown accustomed, after it had first not so enthusiastic. I myself prefer to toast, usually with a slice of cheese on top. It is important that you use Vegemite very economical, since it is quite salty and a very intensive taste.
Vegemite is a concentrated yeast extract, which is obtained when brewing beer. Other ingredients include celery, onions, spices and salt. Unlike Marmite unfortunately Vegemite contains sulfur dioxide as a preservative, to which some may be allergic.
Vegemite contains the B vitamins B1 Thiamin, B2 Riboflavin, B3 Niacin-and-B9 folic acid, it is kosher and halal and suitable for both vegetarian and vegan diets.
