First impression:
-------------
The slim and simple design (very flat and very discreet aluminum frame) have inspired me directly when installing. The 47 "looks much smaller than my old 42 despite larger screen size" -Toshiba. The Panasonic looks decent and is in good hands in our small living room thus. The stand is not made of brushed aluminum, is here only a silver-painted plastic casing before. I do not mind, the TV is stable and safe and the material differences really fall only to the touch.
My first shock: the Panasonic comes with a very reflective display therefore, my old Toshiba display contrast was dull. Since opposite and right of the TV is in each case a window, I was first already worried - after a few days use, I can say: yes, the mirror effect is there, I have to darken my lighter curtains mind if I lunch / afternoon, weather permitting want to watch television. In effect, the mirror effect that bothers me, however, less than expected, which is also the fact that the display has an excellent brightness.
Second "terror" - to which I was prepared but: only 3 HDMI ports! That is simply not enough. There's only an HDMI switch or umstöpseln on. I BP, Xbox360, PS3 and IP-TV use, I just do the fourth HDMI port. But I already knew that before buying and have it virtually accepted.
The structure was fixed by hand, since I do not use the built-in tuner, also accounted for the tuning for me. The finished established device makes anyway visually ago through his subtle and timeless design some.
Image Quality:
-------------
In combination with my Panasonic BP I first tested the Hobbit in 2D and 3D, 3D Avatar, Lord of the Rings 2D and a whole weekend long the fifth season of Dexter. Brilliant image, obtained by the 24p Smooth mode on high through flowing movements even 2D images a great plasticity - nevertheless the 24p Smooth mode is not recommended on high forever, because it can be to fast moving objects / people around artifacts form. You should then go down this mode something or eliminate. Still, the enthusiasm prevails. I have not even made great image settings (and you can adjust here really much), only the ambient light sensor, I have disabled, otherwise gave me the "normal" image liked all right. The 3D image in Hobbit and Avatar has pleased me very well. I've seen a few movies in 3D, so I have no detailed experience and can here certainly make any semi-professional opinion, but compared to the big-screen adaptation of the Hobbit 3D the 3D effects on the Panasonic were me similar delight, although of course the 48p-3D version does not match the Panasonic 3D image can be compared by Hobbit in modern cinema - a variety of reasons.
After the Blu-Ray test PS3 and Xbox360 their turn. The loading screen of God of War: Ascension (quite large black screens), the Edge-LED illumination falls on. If in the lower right corner on a black background, a charging icon is displayed, then the LEDs in the lower left corner are active - but that falls only on really, if a dark image with a few bright objects is shown. If you are very picky, then this can be noticed disturbing in rare cases. I'll handle it well, the picture is for this price range anyway a stunner - I have a lot of fun here, just to test once again all sorts of games on the Panasonic. But in 3D mode I could previously only Uncharted 3 and Gears of War 3 convince properly, but 3D in games seems to have a degree anyway downtrend. So even when video games makes the Panasonic a great figure. I have noticed no streaks and even fast gameplay shines knackescharf on the ETW60.
Sound Quality:
------------
I've always read a lot of bad things about the sound of flat TVs (my Toshiba was still quite "thick" for a flat screen tv). One thing is clear: a massive movie night at home is not enough, the speaker placement of ETW60, here I am planning to buy a sound projector, and it sounds great even on my stereo. For daily series or news on demand TV speakers but from rich loose. HiFi ears cinema should here but of course no one expected - there are just such products as sound bars, surround systems, etc.
Other:
----------
Oh yes, that is indeed a ETW60 SmartTV. Perhaps arises sometime out that I was on the Panasonic use one or the other app intensive. So far, it seemed to me the Tagesschau App or Youtube times to be quite useful. Various media libraries as well. But I would be a fourth HDMI port was 10x better than all the online functions, because my BP player, Xbox and PS3 have all already several online and app functions, ultimately I take this all but only rudimentarily or not at all.
Conclusion:
------
Great, versatile television with a great picture and lots of features and clear, logical menus. Both of the film / series evening as well as video games a real upgrade over the Toshiba (which has now almost 4 years but very served me well). And with the polarized glasses me finally makes 3D home fun. You can wait quite until the TV 200 EUR is cheaper, I've been buying at this price but no regrets and am also on the subtle and timeless appearance. I'm looking forward to savor my favorite movies, games and series in recent years on the ETW60 in peace and enjoy.
