I opted for the version with 64 GB eMMC and 500GB HDD in Tastaturdock. Because I wanted to install in addition to the included anyway MS Office 2013 Home and Student another software to work with the T100TA also constructively. If you do not overdo it with the add-on software, then submit the 64 GB on the eMMC from perfect. For example, I installed some real software heavyweights (more on this below), yet are still more than 30 GB on drive C: free. Over time, Windows will grab some of it although some, but who cares for his OS drive regularly and unnecessary and temporary records / files are removed, the ranges do not forget the effective 49.3 GB system partition (: on the eMMC is the Recovery housed partition that some occupied by 64GB).
My expectations:
Years ago I had before a small, low-priced sub-notebook risen with 13 screen and very slow Celeron Something processor. Thus one could except editing and play music do almost nothing. The processor was just too lame. This is what was not even Windows 8 install despite 2 GM RAM. So I did not expect from TA100T after this experience a lot. To buy I especially animated me the opportunity to use your tablet and netbook in one you have to eventually move with the times ;-) Of the Android tablets I was rather disappointed because too much more than the media consumption are good not. The familiar from desktop software with all its features will not run on Android systems known. So had a Windows 8 Tablet ago or better yet a Convertible. From the performance point I had but did not expect much. For an Atom processor simply did not potent enough to work with it makes sense to me. But I was wrong thoroughly
Practical experience:
As the T100TA arrived, I was initially surprised by the installed Windows. In the Amazon- or Asus description is because only Windows 8.1. In fact, it is, however (presumably) to a modified / customized Windows 8.1 Pro version Bitlocker and the Windows Media Player are included. The system drive is protected with BitLocker actually makes sense, but the encryption will cost a little performance, so that the potential of the EMMC is not fully exploited. I could not turn off this feature, however. Access to the Bitlocker feature is at least locked with me. I suspect, therefore, that it is a customized Windows 8.1 Pro version.
After installing MS Office still a good 34 GB on the system disk were free for me. Since I the Adobe Creative Suite CS5 had an older, long unused version in the closet, I jokingly Photoshop Extended, InDesign, and Illustrator CS5 installed without great expectations, because an Atom processor and just 2GB of RAM seemed too slow to order really be able to work makes sense. But the three programs really work properly with the TA100T. Of course, 2 GB RAM and the native resolution limit of 1366 x 768 pixels, a little, so you should not expect miracles. Extensive Photoshop works with hundreds of planes are a bit tedious, but for most things ranging from performance completely, especially if you connect an external monitor and then set higher resolutions. Personally, I use the Asus part in combination with Photoshop or Artweaver especially for drawing / painting, and of course to edit photos. For this I use besides Photoshop and ACDSee. But it should also be no problem to install Lightroom and deploy useful. At some point I'll be there even to buy myself another license in order to install the program on the T100TA can. The Intel Atom Z3775 processor is the forth in any case. As he suggests in games I have not tested anything more sophisticated than Pinball I have not tried.
The keyboard of the TA100TA works just fine as you can see from this review :-)
What, however, something bothers me is the fairly low performance of the MicroSD card slots. But for swapping media files or work data that's enough.
With one battery charge to get through the day without any problems, despite intensive use. Charging, however, takes a long time because of TA100TA without "real" power supply comes along, but is charged via microUSB and dauuuuuuert that. After all, the Asus does not have to connect to a PC, there is a power plug available.
It is perfectly possible to connect the Convertible over the MicroHDMI port to an external monitor or TV ans. The graphics performance of the Intel graphics unit is sufficient to use a 1080p resolution. I use the T100TA occasionally as a desktop replacement without problems.
Conclusion:
Despite all the software that I have now installed (in addition to the above programs, these are especially diverse PortableApps) are free which is likely to be quite sufficient for the foreseeable future on the system drive even 31 GB.
With Windows 8.1 I come prima cope. Previously I had used it only on my desktop PC with mouse operation. On a Tablet / Convertible Microsoft innovations come into play in earnest. For me, an Android tablet will not come in any case into the house. I would recommend this small but fine and above all stylish Asus device so wholeheartedly recommend for my needs, the part is perfect and my expectations were far exceeded. More can be expected from any system. Thus the T100TA is a really interesting successor to the netbooks.
Conclusion: thumbs up.
:-)
