Below I will give a short review, maybe that helps even one or the other
Positive features of the SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip are:
- Extremely compact design
- Still colorful, easy to read graphic display (96 x 96 pixels)
- Absolutely noise-free operation even in the smallest volume
- Good operating and configurable device menu
- Ideal for audio books / games: begins after restarting at the exact location back to the one had turned it off
- Sleep: turn off after an adjustable delay of even
- Device has a micro-USB port (instead of mini-USB), as it now has almost every mobile phone. This has the advantage that you can charge your device anywhere as needed.
- Battery life very good
- Micro-SD slot for expansion to max. 32GB, so that then a total of 36 GB are available, what is really lush.
- Compatible with the open source Rockbox firmware (the status of stable). This is a very valuable feature because it lets have a chance to get in the future support for new file formats, or error / bug fixes that you can not expect from the manufacturer of such cheap device usually nor receives.
- No additional software necessary for filling. It extends the default file manager of the operating system because the device as a USB Mass Storage device on any PC appears (from Windows XP, even under Linux) or Mac.
Disadvantages my wife not have discovered, sorry. ;-)
2014-01-01 complement: a disadvantage I have now identified himself (albeit a small one): The device has no key lock, so that may unintentionally control functions can be triggered when the player is somewhere clipped to clothing or in a pocket infected.
