Feel:
The Sigma can look very sophisticated and grippy. There nothing wobbles and the gaps like. It is very well located on the 60D and the switch for AF / MF and OS fit snugly. From the surface, the new Sigma is more pleasant than my two previous Sigma from the EX line.
The weight of the lens is optimal for the Canon 60D. It has a balanced combination at hand.
Optical quality:
Certainly the most important point. Here I am spoiled by my 70-200 L. At its imaging performance, the lens comes not ran, but it is nevertheless of exceptional image quality. I use it as a universal objective, if I'm traveling and do not want to take a lot of luggage. Here it is very good to use with its versatility. The figure strength is excellent and you miss almost nothing. Of course, one must be aware that the light intensity is only in absolute Wide area at 2.8 and it is very fast at smaller apertures. Who needs more here / want, (esp. Fixed focal length) should opt for other lenses. I have an alternative while still mostly a 1.8er.
Conclusion:
With this lens you get a very good all-around lens for a very fair price. Personally, I'd always opt again for this lens as a substitute for a kit, or almost "Always top". The real Spezialobtiken can not replace 100% one, but comes in almost all areas closer to their performance, as is the case with comparable competitors in this focal length range.
