Weight and processing:
When unpacking the clock struck me as the first to the very low weight. Since the clock is made of titanium, it is considerably lighter than a comparable clock stainless steel. At first, the weight of the clock is somewhat reminiscent of a toy, puts this impression, on closer examination, however, the clock rather quickly.
The build quality is absolutely spotless and high quality, as one would expect from Citizen.
Clarity:
Even if the face of the clock is loaded with 2 digital displays and 4 other small analog displays, it damages the readability little.
The "local time", which is indicated by means of the pointer, can be read without difficulty at any time. Even reading the UTC on the small 24-hour clock in the 12 works at least during the day without any problems. (Good eyes provided)
The digital displays are when the clock the date or a second time zone display can be illuminated, which is especially at night a lot of sense.
Although the central hands of the clock (hour and minute) as well as the hour markers are provided with luminescent color, but leaves the luminous efficiency very quickly in the dark after. So it is recommended that at night can also display time digitally and then, if necessary, to use the lighting.
A nice touch this clock is the slide rule which is rotated about the crown at "8 clock". Personally, I have the slide rule used for fun a few times to calculate average speeds, whatever worked great. In practice, however, this is probably coming little used.
Would be to say that the inscription on the clock is quite small and you to read especially the UTC and the slide rule needs good eyes.
Eco Drive and radio:
When the clock is solar watch that charges its battery by sunlight or artificial light. This function is called with Citizen Eco Drive. After the first day with the clock, with me the battery was fully charged, which can be easily read on the charge level indicator at the 10. At the dark power reserve of 180 days and the power saving mode, I can not say anything at this point.
Setting the time automatically via the radio signal. Normally (factory setting, Auto Mode) turns the clock at night 2:00 to 4:00 on the radio signal automatically. Alternatively, also a different time for updating set by radio, or turn off completely. In any case, it is also possible to update the time manually via the radio signal.
Additional functions:
In addition to the display of the local time, UTC, the display of the calendar or a second time zone, the charge level and the time of day using 24 display the clock has a timer (up to 99 minutes, every minute programming possible), a stopwatch (up to 24 hours on the 100th of a second exactly) and two alarms.
All additional functions are set via the crown at 3 clock. For this purpose it is necessary to pull out the crown once and turn on the function at 6 o'clock to select the desired function. All additional functions are angezigt on the large digital display right. What is displayed on the right digital display (2nd Time Zone, Calendar, Timer, Chronograph, alarm time 1, Alarm Time 2, setting the Funkempfnags, setting the world cities [time zones]) one can again refer to the Analog Show at 6 clock.
The alarms of the timer and alarm clock are surprisingly loud and can be easily embarrassed in meetings. The red lighting of the digital display is also more than adequate.
Operating Instructions:
Personally, I find that here already often maligned manual not so bad. Simple and safe even nicer is the use of the interactive user guide on the homepage of the manufacturer.
Pro:
- Easy to read in spite of the full dial
- The abundance of (more or less important) Additional functions
- Global applicability by receiving the radio signals from Europe, the USA, Japan and China
- Unlimited power reserve by Solar
- Well audible alarm sounds
Cons:
- Readability of luminescent at night could be better
- Selection of additional functions might go easier
Conclusion:
The Citizen Promaster Sky Hawk JY8020-52E is a successful and versatile clock for all who like to have it exactly on many gadgets not want to miss out and are ready for the reading in the dark to compromise.
By quite narrow design of the clock to fit almost all outfits and occasions (from sports to evening event).
For me an ideal travel companion for functionally assessed Globetrotter, which do not attach too much importance to the prestige of a Swiss automatic watches.
