I have my Philips 47PFL7008K / 12 119 cm (47 inches) Ambilight 3D LED backlight TVs, EEK A + (Full HD, 700Hz PMR, DVB-T / C / S, CI +, Smart TV, WiFi) black on the last Saturday obtained at the price of 1477 Euro from Amazon. After the device was only late by Amazon available I had already thought about it during the competition to buy but in the end opted for Amazon. Delivery by DHL Express was smooth.
the device: After unpacking I was first surprised that to install the Base Tool (Phillips screwdriver and Allen) and optimally requires two people. After 20 minutes, all done and the TV was connected. Commissioning using the wizard is done very easily and in 5 minutes. I operate the TV with a PS3, a Telekom Entertain MR303 (IPTV Receiver) and a Logitech Home Cinema System (connected to the optical cable). All units have been successfully detected immediately and performed flawlessly. I flipped briefly through the control panel but at first glance was all useful preset (only have the internal speakers off).
3D
The TV has 4 passive 3D glasses attached. I have deliberately chosen to do so because of my comfort is important. After configuration I tested the 3D function with the Bluray Resident Evil Afterlife 3D. Bombastic. The 3D effect is really fabulous, the channel separation well. Negative side effects such as darker image are barely visible. For Champions League Final I once converting 2D - tried> 3D; barely visible. But is certainly also with the imagery. The 3D effect works very well even in bad angle.
Ambilight
The main criterion why I decided for Philips and ours. I have a high ceiling (3.5 M). To "fill" this space, I decided for a 3-sided Ambilight and was not disappointed. The effect is the evening / night strongly visible and very pleasant. For Parties definitely also very funny. A drawback is, I noticed the Ambilight switched in (very) dunkelen scenes not completely. In this case is then troublesome. eg in the Hobbit. Funny detail: the TV has a kind of homecoming circuit (as in cars): After turning off the TV, the Ambilight remains lit for a few seconds, so you have enough time to go to the light switch in a dark room.
Menu, Smart TV features
Yes it is true, the menu will become sluggish and slow. Me personally but it disturbs not particularly because I switch eg TV programs on IPTV Receiver, not the TV. Here I use the menu only to switch between sources and it isses ok.
The SmartTV features are mixed. The integrated browser and the Facebook app are useless (Everywhere only display errors). However, the YouTube app is very nice. Easy and quick to use and funny solutions (control of the TV app with the Youtube app on the iPhone)
Image
The picture is beyond any doubt. High dynamics, high sharpness, very fluid. The image enhancements via software are useful and clearly visible. The MPEG artifact mitigation is eg clearly perceive in the Youtube app. PMR 700 is very pleasant for example with slow camera pans (Super effect eg when The Art of Flight).
Housing
The case is nice. Continuous glass surface (display up 1cm at the edge) and quite shallow. The Stand is unfortunately less beautiful (running behind the TV cable are not covered, material appearance of Stand mediocre). I would recommend the TV on the wall to fix (with me unfortunately not possible).
Remote
The remote is initially unfamiliar. Since the number keys are down and the remote is otherwise symmetrical I have repeatedly held to initially wrong rum in his hand. The operation of the back with QWERTY keyboard is well thought out and functioning properly. The remote control via radio (ie even without line of sight). However, the TV also has an infrared receiver so you can use universal remotes. The Pointer function works rather badly, a calibration is lacking.
Pro:
+ USP Ambilight
+ Very good 3D effect
+ Best image quality
Cons:
- High price (Compared to 47 "devices from other manufacturers)
- Sluggish menu
- Ugly Stand
Neutral:
* SmartTV features
* Remote Control
