Routes:
Munich - Schliersee (motorway + Highway)
Munich - Mittenwald (Highway and highway)
Previous solution
So far, the MTBs (two) were taken without further ado apart, folded the rear seats when Daimler station wagon and everything tucked neatly.
Rating: Dismantle annoying, the often completely filthy after touring bikes. This dirt has usually distributed while driving beautiful uniform in the trunk and on the backs of the folded seats. To avoid scratches on frames, etc. cumbersome covering or intermediate pads was necessary.
Time required: 10 - 15 minutes
New Solution
The support is extremely fast mounted and loaded. Measured time: 2 minutes with two MTBs and both carrier and car in the garage. By Umklappeinrichtung the support of access to the boot is retained and you must say, very cool feature.
Overall, very stable, pleased on every trip. Also AB at 180 with two wheels were not a problem. No swinging, lurching or wobbling. Has pleased. However, only two wheels were mounted, in the first two tires rails. The first two tire tracks are deeper than the third rail, leading to a better positioning of the front wheels. When we put the rear wheel to the third track, there may be to swing the front wheel (150).
Also: Complete trunk no folding down the rear seats is retained for storage, no mess in the car necessary.
Conclusion
In my view, the solution for bike transport. Easy installation, even alone everything goes quickly and safely by hand. Stable and flexible, the access to the boot is retained (Mercedes E Class Bj. 1991 no sill and high combi flap). No use overhead etc. (eg roof rack).
Restriction: The carrier is generally quite heavy (just very solid and stable). At about the 20 kg. Since the car is now available in the garage and the carrier is also stored there, this disadvantage holds for us in limits.
