I have never had a Beats headphones (mainly for the price and the side "plastic toy") so I could not compare, but from what I read on the internet are low too present and apart the bass is hardly hear anything (the rest of the spectrum being crushed). So these are helmets "boom boom" to dubstep thoroughly and blow the eardrums.
Now if you want a real helmet with better finishes and good rendering on the entire spectrum for affordable Marshall is a very good choice. It is very elegant, with a leather-like coating of the most beautiful effect and a very nice mark "Marshall" white on each side. It seems very solid with his headband and metal hinges to fold the headphones.
I have this helmet for almost 6 months and it is in the same condition as the day: as new. I use between 2 and 6 hours per day, every day, connected to my PC.
This isolation level is good enough, you always hear outside noises but they are stifled, and no one will hear your music even with the volume to maximum, which is rather nice.
The filter system is clever, simply take off the ear pads (attached magnetically) to access it (this is no problem). The difference between 'with' and 'without' filter is somewhat obvious. The sound is supposed to be more "hot" and with "clear" no, but it is very subtle.
The fact that the cable is detachable is a huge advantage, it is forced to throw the helmet if there's a loose connection, simply change the cable jack!
The helmet comfort level is quite paradoxical: it is very comfortable to wear but over time it can hurt. I wear glasses views with slightly thicker branches and the headset supports the branches against the head which causes discomfort within a few hours. By adjusting the headband over a shorter position I managed to decrease the discomfort. Without glasses I did not notice any discomfort.
In short this is an excellent headset that I can only recommend!
