Important Note
The manufacturer Belkin has this USB Car Charger made exactly for the advertised purpose. When this USB Charger is used with a device other than the advertised, comes from the charger out no charge current of 2100 mA instead of only 500 mA.
The other way around words, only with iPod / iPhone / iPad provides the adapter the 2.1A charge current, not for other devices.
Why is that?
Belkin has developed the charger for exactly the purpose described above. And it works correctly.
And if I want to use it for other devices?
a) then use it, but do not be surprised that only 500 mA rauskommen
b) used a modified USB cable
c) Open the Charger and modify it
Please b) and c) only make if you know what you're doing - I can not guarantee anything about taking !!!
And how does the "Modify"?
Usually check phone / MP player before charging, charging current which can supply the charger. A USB port on the computer can only supply 500 mA, a battery charger for the outlet more than 500 mA. This test is relatively simple. Namely, if the charger the pins 2 + 3 (middle) with a resistance of under 200 ohms "shorted", recognizes the phone / the player, there are no data transmission, there are just a lot of electricity. And from that moment loads the phone / the player with the provided by the manufacturer max. Charging current.
What have I done?
Having talked with Belkin, and they have confirmed to me that this Charger 2.1 A no supplies if devices other than iPod / iPad / iPhone to be connected, I opened the case carefully, shorted pins and again closed the case.
Since my Palm Pre is loaded in the car with about 1 A, is therefore in more than one hour back brim.
