Be sure to use the camera to set up the software on the supplied CD application (for Mac: "IP Camera Tool"), otherwise you will find the camera not so easy in your own network - the default setting for the port is namely 88 !! Simply click the found using the tools Camera IP address and then download the download offered by Safari plugin and install only after all the requirements for configuration and viewing of recorded video streams exist.
The transmitted image quality can be based on several parameters precisely to the given requirements and technical transfer opportunities (available bandwidth in WLAN, LAN or Powerline) Adjust: (1) resolution (from 960p, 720p, VGA to QVGA), (2) bit rate (4Mbps up 20kbps), (3) Frame Rate (25 to 1 frame per second at 50 Hz), and (4) key frame interval (10 to 100 frames). I have 2 cameras connected via Powerline, both with only about 50Mbps transfer rate - here it is, of course, absolutely necessary to deal with the optimization of the transferred image quality. The display on the Mac with Safari and iPad / iPhone, for example, with the app "LiveCams Pro" works for then also excellent.
The image is surprisingly good, color and sharpness can be adjusted, resulting in a very natural representation. Below a certain brightness, the camera switches to infrared mode, the image is then only in black / white.
In order to trigger a motion alarm can be in a field of 100 equal-sized rectangles in view define the areas (= a combination of any rectangles), which will contribute or ignore the alarm, so that can be disruptive movements of trees and plants to hide. However: As with all other cameras that I know well, performs a quick change in brightness (sun small clouds that rapidly alternate in strong winds located) also here to faulty triggering that seems no manufacturer really under control to have.
An email sent via SSL is not supported, however, is the secure transmission via TLS (Transport Layer Security) to GMAIL and STARTTLS to Hotmail. There clearly room for improvement for the firmware. At alarm triggering exactly 3 pictures are sent in a message to the specified email address. The storage of a video clip (not included) carried out micro-SD card when entering a motion alarm in a definable length on an FTP server or on an inserted in the camera. Watch the clips you can then use the provided by the Safari plugin "playback" function, here but I would like to see a little more comfort.
After about one week of operation I can not confirm the other reviews complained in instability of the camera, both cameras are very stable. Reboots were rarely in the Ausprobier phase required until the optimum image quality was found.
I do not use all the features of the camera (eg zoom, audio, ...) and can therefore give no full review, for my application but I am with the required quality of the camera compared to the price very satisfied. Unfortunately, there is for Mac users only a very limited range, especially the classic, big manufacturer names in the industry do yourself in the high price segment very hard with full Mac support. This camera is a really positive exception.
The delivery by "safety technology Dusseldorf" was very quick!
