The Shield tablet I can recommend without restrictions. I'm a fan of stock Android and wanted to originally purchase the Nexus 9. After the LTE variant with 32GB but proud 170 EUR more than the 16GB version costing and lay in a more cost-area I could not agree with my conscience, I have looked around for other tablets! Besides, I was not really willing to spend so much money on the Nexus 9 after the rather mixed reviews. The additional cost of the Nexus 9 I find slightly outrageous and not in the acceptable range. And I've found that most LTE Tablets are unreasonably expensive until I landed at Nvidia Shield Tablet. Here is the charge for LTE + additional 16GB internal memory "only" EUR 80 what I feel was a fair and acceptable. There is also a micro SD slot, which again is a fairly cost-effective storage expansion for music and movies means what really is in my (travel) situation is important. Also APP2SD is supported by NVIDIA but is not really necessary for me since 32 GB of internal memory is more than enough. Movies and music hike on the micro SD card. As game affine man (without Powergamer ambitions) I feel the possibilities of Shield Tablets almost as a blessing the home PC to use PC games on the tablet to stream Can you ask for more? Playing on the balcony his current PC game while enjoying the sun? Works absolutely perfectly and almost no input lag in most cases. For leisurely games this is anyway not a problem, even with Shooter in most cases are very playable as long as you do not have professional or Multiplayer claims. To want to use the so-called Game Stream feature should according to Nvidia have a decent router. So who should a Fritz box or a similar product called his own so have no problems with stuttering. Also you must be at least. A Geforce graphics card with Kepler own architecture. (Geforce FTX 6xx and higher if I am not mistaken) There is also the so-called "Console Mode" in which one tablet per separate mini HDMI connector (Mini - not MICRO) can connect to your TV and thus in conjunction with the Shield Controller (60 EUR extra) almost a console like experience on TV can enjoy!
Benefits: + Almost pure Android + Fast / regular updates from NVIDIA (5.0 came earlier than for my Nexus device!) + PC game stream on Tablet + Mini HDMI out (just wrap cable, download movie on your tablet and looking at friends - really super practical) + Micro SD Slot + Reasonable price + Good speakers + Very thoughtful Controller Support
Mediocre: o very good processing (though nothing earth-shattering) o only acceptable battery o not particularly easy because heatsink inside o only WLAN N standard o screen could be brighter, but really ok
Disadvantages: - Bad camera (absolutely irrelevant for me, all I might take pictures with the Tablet times times a QR Code) - Very spongy volume and power buttons
Especially when you see the price / performance ratio can recommend the NVIDIA Tablet without restrictions. Although it is not particularly noble, especially light yet incredibly chic but it is very convenient and provides for people who like to play and music / movies look very, very much good features. Even people who "only" looking for a perfectly ordinary tablet which get a handy tablet with top current technology for "only" 300 EUR. No other manufacturer offers such hardware for that price! All the additional features complete the package very well done from and extend the value significantly.
