When unpacking, I noticed right away that the unit has been processed stable and high quality. Programming the Water Timer is simple thanks to the user manual easily understandable. In the first step is used to set the current time and day of the week. Since we unfortunately can enter the hours at the time, it is advisable to carry out the programming on the hour.
The second is used to set the starting term, at what time is started with the irrigation. Next, still enter the irrigation cycle, eg every 24 hours, every 12 hours or every 8 hours. An individual time programming is not provided with this unit. This is in my case not so bad, because I every 12 hours, sprinkle my lawn in the morning at 7 clock and the evening at 19 clock.
The final step is determining the irrigation time. Again, you can unfortunately only choose between several preset times. The choices are: 1,2,3,4,5,10,15,30,45,60,90,120 minute. For my lawn I have chosen 90 minutes.
The unit is now programmed ready. The lawn sprinkler is now automatically in the morning at 7:00 clock in the evening and at 19:00 clock for 90 minutes. When one between no watering required, for example, when it rains, then to set the Water Timer to Off. If you want between manual watering, then rotate the knob to On. The clock can also again without re-programming set it back to the automatic function.
The 1030D Gardena water timer can be attached to a faucet with a G1 inch (33.3 mm). An adapter for a G 3/4 inch (26.5 mm) thread is in the package. The water hose is attached with a standard tap connector. To protect against theft Gardena offers an antitheft device. This however must be purchased separately.

Conclusion:
All in all I am very satisfied with the 1030D Gardena Water Timer. The device can be programmed very easily. Automatic irrigation works very well and without any problems. The device itself is very stable, as one would expect from Gardena. Have not so good, I like the fixed deadlines the watering cycle and the irrigation time. Annoyed but not me this, because my time requests could adjust. The Water Timer saves me the daily turning on the lawn sprinkler. My grass is nice and green and I am very satisfied. In my eyes, the GARDENA Water Timer earned 5 stars.
