Some small features were added, such as the advanced power-saving feature.
Even the Sigma Design chip is now something new and performant: 8634+ (EVA9100) instead 8622L (EVA8000).
The key for many is probably that now the real-time browsing to work, so no previous scan of the media is necessary. But indexing per scan, so like with the EVA8000 is still possible.
So it is now both. Very nice.
The case now looks in black and the somewhat simpler design something modern and fits better in eg existing Audio / Video Device towers a.
I have looked after other streaming clients, as has indeed done a lot in recent years, and it still gives possibly other good devices. But can replace a BluRay / DVD player fully then not so many streaming clients. For example, the streaming clients in the Philips devices, or the DLNA client of Playstation: Here you have to first demux the films to remove the other tracks, because you can not switch the audio tracks. And you have at the Playstation each VOB file separately is Start. The Philips DLNA clients play the VOB files at least sequentially from, but each time with a short interruption.
In turn other can represent no DVD menu, and / or play from any ISO-Files.
All this (+ ISO-Files) will work with the EVA8000 / 9100/9150 easily like a real DVD player.
Otherwise, almost the same advantages and disadvantages as the previous Netgear EVA8000 Digital Entertainer HD apply.
UPDATE & Note: The EVA9150 Firmware does the use, or response from DLNA / UPnP servers, what does not work in an EVA9100 (but really should work).
But you can play with the TFTP recovery tool from Netgear EVA9100 on a firmware EVA9150, then UPnP works on the EVA9100.
NOTE: The upgrade to the EVA9150 Firmware is a one-way ticket, there are loud Netgear support no turning back! The driver of the WLAN USB sticks are not integrated with the EVA9150 firmware, so it can not after upgrading WLAN USB stick is used.
