Very promising game!

When told that the lead designer of Morrowind, the game blessed by the gods, was ejected from the project Skyrim, I suffered for man. Then they told me he was working on a new license. So I preordered without asking questions. And I got Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Of course, one will immediately notice the crass absurdity of the French translation of the title of this RPG ... Mbref. Watching a trailer, you will also be somewhat surprised to find the guy Morrowind in a game with cartoony graphics and shimmering, then he has used to good serious realism. And there, one is tempted to compare the game Fable.

After fifteen hours of game very dense, I am able to speak specifically of the baby, although I would not be able to deflower you the main Timeline: indeed, I did not hit more than during the tutorial .
Reckoning is indeed a game whose immensity is quickly felt, despite a map which is not exceptionally large at first glance. This is yet copiously filled, and side quests abound. Within 14 hours of play, I had flared Fable 100%. Within 15 hours of play, I visited only 3 of the 30 areas of Reckoning and made so many side quests that I have completely forgotten the initial thread of the story.

The cartoony graphics, which can look very ugly a first for who does not like this style (and this is my case), are ultimately effective and even more enchanting. The colors and lights used reinforce the powerful poetry of the game, which worked very universe is adorned with some originality, while using wisely the codes of heroic fantasy. Textures are however unsavory, probably to follow the fashion initiated by Skyrim ^^

Reckoning was widely presented before its release, as a game giving pride of place to a very dynamic gameplay: it was not a lie. The fighting in real time, of course, are nervous and nags (who chooses, like myself, to play a big warrior down the front), and include many events and other discrete QTE. Too bad the game is so easy! We are not experiencing any difficulty, and the challenge of feeling was totally absent, the pleasure is affected ...
The character development system is not very complicated but unfortunately little interesting, much less customizable at will. The simplicity of it and the dynamism of melee are truly the only points that bring the game of Fable.

In everything else, the game is a potpourri piochées many good ideas here and there: the forging system closely resembles that of Guild Wars, various other well known craftings are also available elsewhere (alchemy , gems ...), the three major gameplay directions are also "subtly" envisaged in a Skyrim (Power, Witchcraft, Finesse), as to the skill trees, they remind vaguely ... tons of play. What ' Never mind, all is consistent and we never get bored.

As for the soundscape of the title, it is simply splendid. For a long time I had not heard such beautiful music, and used as intelligent way: the melodies are not linked together without interruption, until the player drunk. Shorter or longer pauses between them, allowing greater immersion through rustling forests or splashing water enhanced by the silence of the orchestra. We had already seen that before (Mass Effect), but here is much better used, especially during dialogue scenes. I hope that this system will inspire other games!
They will also both be inspired by the quality of French dubbing Reckoning. True, it comprises all in all a dozen actors, but the floor director has directed all these people, and the result is impeccable consistency.

Yet I do not just describe the perfect game (ah, if only!). Reckoning is indeed a great start to license, but sorely lacking in a small detail that has more and more importance in the Western RPG humor! The tone of the game is indeed very serious and suffers from a lack of secondary schools that will make us prefer a masterpiece of the genre such as The Witcher. Also, is still expected more from a game with cartoony graphics and funny it is fun as a fable, where burp and dredging of chicks was part of the gaming experience. In Reckoning, the schoolboy humor is replaced by poetry, which will, despite its quality, seduced as much a public good big pet well crappy ...

As for the main quest, well ... it is what will make me or not recommend this game to as many people, everything else is rather positive but not exceptional, and yet devilishly addictive. Besides, see, I return to Amalur. See you later!
