I have the socks worn on the Way of St. James (Camino Frances), so as not to annoy my fellow pilgrims with foot odor. This has worked well, you could even take off the evening after the shoes directly to sniff the socks without fainting :) Since my second pair of socks Icebreaker has not done well, I have the socks worn every day, thereby was possible that I have worn them at night after washing as "gloves", to get them dry. Nevertheless, even after about 1000km still in pristine condition.
