I have except my music transfer a large photo collection, the image quality is superior (because I look at the pictures on Full HD TVs, I had previously formatted to 1920x1080 pixels - 16: 9 format also fits very well with the display of the Archos).
Furthermore, I have my own HD videos (AVCHD format) as well as "normal" digital video (camcorder) with the ojosoft software on the Archos screen size converted and transferred - they all run properly with great picture quality.
I also use the WiFi functionality and internet browser - works very well. The device will automatically connect to any previously configured one WLAN network. Have the e-mail functionality combined with my Yahoo e-mail account (using Wizard automatically configures after the first time I called the e-mail function).
With regard to the stability and the here described by other owners problems, so I do not this. In 5 weeks the unit has crashed even once. As soon as I was the first time on the Internet, it had automatically found and installed a firmware update - so no hassle of installing new firmware, is automatic.
Now back to the music. The Archos has (say that I order in my music library .. must) with my library, no problem, all the covers are displayed, title, artist, etc. properly. The sound of supplied headphones is very modest, you should necessarily buy better (I use either headphones or BOSE closed Klipsch in-ear). With the right headphones, the sound is really very good, for me much better than with Apple products.
But there were also a tangible problem: synchronizing the Archos with my music on the PC does not work for FLAC files right away. The reason: the Windows Media Player to be used for synchronization does not support FLAC format! Although manually copying goes for FLAC music, but not for playlists (these are not playable by manually copying). Playlists are essential for me, and luckily I found a solution. The software I used for years "JRiver Media Center" ([...]) is synchronized with the Archos everything perfectly and flawlessly.
Based on my experience I can recommend the Archos 5 Internet Tablet.
