Have purchased the scanner to capture 20-30 year old holiday slides after the HP Scanjet 4070 has given up the ghost. The scanner is solidly built and makes a stable and high-quality impression. The scanning slides goes superfix, 4 pieces at 1200dpi need to prescan (about 10-15 seconds) with a total transfer to the PC (6300DualCore, 1GB RAM) about 3.5 minutes. This created the Scanjet too, but only at 200 dpi. No preheating because LED bulb. The quality difference by direct comparison of previously scanned images is huge, of course, by the dpi value conditionally. The pictures are much brighter and the dust particles are removed completely (!!!). Even a hairline crack on the slide disappeared when Canon completely. I'm very satisfied. The only catch - the slides are stored in a fixed frame on the glass plate, but are exposed so that they again have to take the disc with your fingers. Here, a thin guide rail for lifting the entire frame would have been nice. So help the microfiber cloth. The software and drivers are installed cleanly from the installation routine (in any case before plugging in the scanner, but is also thick in the Quick Start Guide). The results of the various PDF-scan versions (you can assign a key individual) are very good. A recommendable device.
