For me, the expensive version has not paid off because I had a) anyhow before to install an SSD and it therefore does not matter if I have 320GB or 500GB, and b) I need in my laptop no BluRay player, because we at home have a conventional Blurayplayer and a PS3.
So I have to save scarce 150.
Since I do not want to repeat myself, I agree to things that did not mention the previous speakers or on things that I do not see in my speakers so.
1. Bluetooth
I do not know what all of them have, however, Bluetooth has the laptop definitely! It should be noted only that it is both a manual slider for wireless connections (WLAN and Bluetooth) are and the key combination "Fn + F2".
2. Keyboard
This I find really very good! The processing has succeeded, it is not for me to (in other well?) And the chiclet keyboard like it allmäglich better than a normal PC keyboard!
3. Graphics Card
Here top unfortunately no one has been received. It is very advisable to have installed a graphics card in the laptop and do not like many other competitors models only use the Intel's own graphics chip. This can be reasonably games, though not like a gamer laptop with highest demands!
However, I have experienced that competitors models without a graphics card already in simple Flash Games had their problems! That to me is an absolute no-go !!!
Now there may be even better than the GT520M graphics card, for example, the GT540M or GT545M which, as they are also found in a 14-inch Asuslaptop. Here you have for yourself to consider whether the charge is justified and whether you even a 2GB (!!) - requires graphics card! For example, I use the laptop insofar graphically "somewhat more challenging" so far that I now and then a game online Flash game and doing photo editing á la Red-eye reduction, so really simple things ... For this, the graphics card is sufficient definitely! Although I zocke games on my PS3, I have also StarCraft2 instaliert what is also used occasionally. Here at full resolution and high details the game a real treat, alls liquid and graphically well!
4. Application
Basically the workmanship is very good! The color choice is a matter of taste. But who is interested in the silver model, which must be said: Although the silver palm rest and touchpad are both made of metal, however, have a different silver tone! In addition, a fine, chrome thin frame is present as a transition between the palm rest and touchpad. I personally like this very well! Actually, only a pity that the entire inside, including as housing is not the keyboard of metal, this would have indeed almost Apple-level!
5. Asus software
It is true that the hard disk rather vollgemüllt comes from Asus. I was not very disturbed because I have made a SSD upgrade (later to more). However, I find the "Power4Gear Hybrid" software from Asus really great! Here you can select eight profiles, as this host will be then! Four different profiles for battery and four for the power supply operation. Personally, I always use only "High Performance" and the "economy mode". The software is vital for me as I work with the laptop a lot in college and one creates depending on the settings between 3h and 10h! 10 hours may now indeed seem like overkill, but I managed just over 8 hours in economy mode at lowest backlight and only with WiFi! This energy management can be compared with any other manufacturer and is not only the program but also to the strong 8 cell battery.
6. Display
The display I find not too dark, I did it really ever run at about 50%, in the evening at home even all the way down and even if I'm out in the sun, I never have to make the full 100% illuminated. I think this is also due to the matt display.
7. Windows (New) installation
Another reviewer had the problem, install Win7 Ultimate. I was really surprised, because I had absolutely no problem with it.
A very recommended upgrade is the installation of an SSD. I have thereby decided on the Crucial m4 128GB. The installation was very simple. Then I also installed my own Win7 version, which was no problem at all! One tip I have here still: who during the boot process problems has (in my laptop with the SSD did not boot), which should note two things in the BIOS: Change a) from the IDE to AHCI mode (usually automatic) and you should (I think Asus-own) Change Option "FancyStart" from Disabled to Enabled. This change makes the boot problem is resolved. If you like to know further about the SSD, which should please the Crucial m4 here looking at Asus and read my review there.
Oh, I have not yet mentioned the "minimum criticisms" ...
!!! USB 3.0 !!!
This is really annoying for me! The transfer speed of USB 3.0 SSD needs to be BRACHIAL. Since I am a student and not a video library with 5 different disks at home operate (;-)) this is only in second place.
eSata I think is dispensable and as already stated Bluetooth is present!
Those like me who are looking for a laptop with good battery life, high mobility and good performance, is very well served with this laptop! Spoilt for choice is meisst only the equipment and the color ;-)
