For the holidays, I wanted to buy myself some comfortable trekking shoes, which are not as big and heavy as classic hiking boots, yet are stable and have a good capping. I've really decided that: The shoes from Merrell fit like a glove - but I have previously read that they should order a size necessarily a number and I can only completely agree. I had not even enter large and had good despite a strenuous hike through dust, volcanic ash and stones, neither bubbles nor bruises. They are really comfortable and I was with them just as surely felt like with my hiking boots. For water resistance I can not say anything, but I have it tested once on wet ground and there they mourned with completely tight. Whether they are made for the pouring rain, I can not judge. Strong buy recommendation.
