Well meant, less well done!

Overflying of hundreds of reviews, the various available on Amazon "light boxes", "light tent" and "PopUp Cube" resulted in the following findings:

1. A manufacturer builds cheap, manufacturer B builds cheaper and manufacturer C to Z build cheap.

2. The backgrounds are always crumpled / wrinkled and can not be ironed properly.

3. Some of the Pooh apparently remain only therefore permanently in their new owners, because they no longer get folded the thing after the first use.

The very basic statement of all these indications ignoring I had (50 x 50 x 50 cm) decided nevertheless for the Kaiser Cube-Studio Light Tent.
Why? Simply because "emperor" it says, because I promised the size and because Emperor advertises a special reflection-reducing coating inside the cube.

Assembly and disassembly:
That's always the same principle, no matter whether it is a beach tent, a folding reflector or a light cube.

Building is easy: unpacking and possibly shake a little.

Dismantling is: flatten the three-dimensional object only or fold flat and then "spiral" the panel object to an 8 twist and push each other, the resulting rings.

Ok, that with the dismantling sounds at the beginning but a little easier than it actually is, a little the matter is "brutal" already, so objects are to the stringing of such "pop-up" only substances suitable that the extreme folding and twisting survive without permanent plastic deformation.

What I did not like at my copy of the Kaiser Cube Studios is as follows:

1. The cube is "skewed", which somehow fits all not really.

2. The faces of the cube are very wrinkled and creased after construction. The idea is actually that the side faces of the assembled cube constantly under tension and so the wrinkled fabric is smoothed out. But this will only work properly if the cube was halfway carefully and symmetrically manufactured, otherwise there is too much tension in one corner and the other too little, what then indeed it but leads to fewer wrinkles to large elongated folds.

3. The special interior coating of the Kaiser Cubes has a velvety surface, which makes them a potential dust and dirt magnets. In my dice the interior coating had in some places, even before the first use, a bit gray, can of course be that play for the graying effect even different refraction effects on the smooth touch a role.

4. Has the velvety internal coating of the cube, as far as I can tell, other disadvantages: By coating the sidewalls lose compared to a simple, uncoated polyester canopy of flexibility, ie they are less soft, resulting in creases and folds particularly permanently can perpetuate on the insides.

Moreover, in my opinion, the coating absorbs, also neatly light. This makes it difficult to assess the proper illumination, if one has only a comparatively weak external lighting. I have to illuminate 3 x 23 Watt daylight energy saving light bulbs, (from left, right, top), used it comes, at least to the naked eye, not much inside the cube on. For the recording itself is less tragic, since you can easily adjust shutter speed, aperture and ISO the situation without a tripod and remote or self-timer, of course it does not work, but it is also three or more flash units (with or without additional diffuser) place in the same arrangement.

5. What has especially bothered me, are the seemingly attached to arbitrary positions and in some improper angles Velcro fasteners for background materials! Since I could now see no clear line with the best will, either there or it is clamped too loose, a clean, wrinkle-free fillet put nil. It would be easy to solve this problem: It would only sufficiently large Velcro surfaces are attached to the inside of the cube, then the user can decide himself how he wants to attach the background materials.

The texture of the background materials even I find okay, the color selection is ok, (black + blue) and (white + gray) so that the majority of applications are covered, yes, and even can about it-iron course hurt not.

Conclusion:
Mir says the little emperor Cube Studio Light Tent not to. On the one hand I think the kind of internal coating for a bit problematic on the other makes the light tent on me, despite brand manufacturers, a rather messy and carelessly together embroidered impression, so if I as yet to mess around long even to the mounting of the background ... Especially since you (up to 50 x 50 x 50 cm), all in principle without too much effort with self, very good or because of greater flexibility, even can achieve better results in this magnitude.

Basically, I want the concept of pop-up light boxes but not condemn that can already be useful if you want to make fast times for an inventory or for Ebay a few dozen articles and photos simply can not find a place with neutral background. I'll possibly try again with a cheap NoName pop-light box, when it is clear from the outset that I have to look after the background yourself.
