The initial situation:
Our 2-year-old Gordon Setter is set always on dry food. We have since the beginning with a product of Royal Canin, now adult, fed, because our dog is not fixated on occasionally supplemented home cooked. Recently, we make two observations:
On self-Boiled, VA with chicken, he reacts more often with more fluent chair to diarrhea. And: In the 2 years he has a tidy put on weight, his agility but not lost. On the contrary, it shows enormously active. This places special demands on the nutrient content and the compatibility of the lining.
For us, the reasons it with another dry food to try as an admixture were.
To test the compatibility, we should first be mixed progressive Eukanuba, spontaneous, our dog reacted positively, for us, the admixture to increase the share gradually to the current level of 50%. What we can see here:
Fell:
Our dog had already a nice shiny black fur that has not changed, at least, what we interpret that the competitors Eukanuba Royal Canin can definitely keep step in this regard.
Digestive and tolerability:
The dog takes the food in the mix of good. We am particularly pleased that laid by the addition of the described Eukanuba digestive problem associated with home cooked and digestion has become very stable. A transition to 100% Eukanuba would therefore be perfectly conceivable.
Odour:
Any dog food has a solid odor, must be used to the experienced dog owners. So the fishy smell of Eukanuba variety is not worse than dry rumen or small dry sprat. We believe that almost every dog just loves to eat especially what man can smell only with overcoming. In short: we do not see as a disadvantage.
Conclusion:
At least as good as the price of similar product Royal Canin and maybe even a bit better this end, we will be able to move to a longer test time.
