At this time I had a Lumix GF-3, which is a good camera per se, by the operator (thanks to touch screen), image quality, but I switched to Nikon 1 so I can use my Nikon AF-S lenses. Thanks to FT-1 is possible, even with autofocus.

I first bought the J1 kit with the 10-30 and 10 mm and approximately photographed six months. This I then eventually gave my brother and me bought a V1 because the V1 at the time was very low.

Processing:
The workmanship is very good. The GF-3 was not bad, but compared the V1 and J1 is also built very solid quality.

Handling:
What a camera is also very important for me, are the control options, and see if the camera fits comfortably in your hand. Normal grip is not so important with a small camera. But as I generally do not use strap, but a wrist strap, I missed a small handle to the right place.

A dial on the P, A, S, M missing. You always have the path go to the menu if you want to change the settings. For example, AF mode, or ISO. Personally, I need all this not as often as I have my own setting determines quasi. But for many users would interfere very determined. And while we're at ISO: There are ISO-automatic A400, A800 and A3200. But why no A1600?

Modes such as "Motion Snapshot" or "Best Shot" are nei me rarely used. Best Shot is very useful if you have children or pets photographed.

A mode for panorama, the many modern cameras, is missing in the V1 but.

Image Quality:
For comparison, I have taken the GF-3 with 14-42 and 20 / 1.7. All cameras were with default settings. The results of the V1 were relatively remarkably well. The sharpness is very good, the pictures are very detailed. The images of the GF-3 are in the center a bit sharper, but you can see even if it compares to 100%. But it's as expected, simply because of the sensor size.

Autofocus:
The AF in V1 is very fast and accurate. When GF-3 that was not always so. Since the AF is generally slower in contrast to V1, and the fehlfokus has occurred more often. With the V1 which is rarely the case. And if it does happen, it is again very quickly the correct focus point.

EVF:
The EVF is in my opinion quite well. There are already other system cameras with not so good EVF. In the V1 does not flicker, the image remains stable. When the camera pans in different lighting conditions, such as from dark to light or vice versa, we see no streaks or the like.

Flash:
The V1 has no internal flash. So if you like using flash, unfortunately, have to buy an external. Meanwhile, there are two models. Since I already hardly used with the J1 lightning, I have not missed him.

Lenses:
At the moment there are already 9 lenses. There's something there for every situation. And get more even determined yet. Who is not enough or too expensive (such as the 32 / 1.2) but has lenses from Nikon, you can even try with the FT-1 adapter.

FT-1:
As already mentioned, I have virtually changed because the Adapter to Nikon 1. So I use my AF-S lenses to the V1 and am always impressed. I have tried so far, the 50 / 1.8G, 85 / 1.8G and 24-85 / 3.5-4.5 VR. The results are very good. especially with the 50's and 85's. Since the V1 but is too big in combination with the 85er and the zoom, I do not use so often. But with the 50 I'm already a couple of times on the way. Of course, the camera is generally larger, but the results are very good. It has been with the adapter simply more opportunities if you have quite a few lenses for F-Mount.

But be careful! Not all lenses with F-mount can be screwed to the FT-1, or rather, not all function as they should be. The Tamron 17-50 / 2.8 I tested, for example, because the AF is not working. Compatible lenses Nikon can be found on the website. In third-party You have to look in the forums.

Battery:
The battery lasts very long. The EN-EL15 is also used in D600, D7000, D7100, D800 and D800E, so you have to say no a lot. I have therefore the second battery. :)

Conclusion:
The V1 convinced with the speed, accuracy, feel, and despite a small sensor good image quality.

It was all written in the forums and journals that the Nikon V1 would not be suitable as a second camera. But for me it is the opposite. Anyone who has an FX or DX, but a smaller secondary camera for normal photograph with good image quality searches, which should be a system camera, where you want to also use the lenses for SLR, and not always want as much weight drag, should the Nikon V1, or generally look at the Nikon 1 system. I myself have eventually sold the DX, and to complement the FX I have only the CX.

The points deduction is predominate in the handling, since you can only change the settings in the menu. If there was 10 stars here, I would have given 7. In 3 out of 5 would be bad rated. Thus, this is at 4 von 5.

PS Whoever takes only DxO values, the data and compares says, the camera is bad, but without having even photographed with it properly, what good has just missed. With the facts and figures to make now times no beautiful photos.
