- The sound of the built-in speaker (probably mainly thanks to the subwoofer) to lengths better than the 615S. (And since an increase also was not hard ...) Where eg for watching series completely from.
- I did not think that such a massive increase in image quality would be possible, but the picture is actually way better than the "old" 615er. Especially in 3D mode, the picture is really excellent! Where had 615 occasionally struggling with ghosting, blurring and similar Nickeligkeiten, I have a crystal-clear and extremely vivid 3D image with virtually no interference or artifacts. Much better to get it in the cinema think I do not see ...
- Even in 2D mode you have VA at full HD material is a consistently terrific for my taste image (pure TV picture I can not say, since I use as image sources only BD player, XBox and DNLA). For comparison: We have in the company an OLED display from LG demo stand (same size), the approximately cost 4-5 fold, but I would say spontaneously that the image quality of 6608 not as spectacular is much worse. In other words, for this price range (
- Also nice: The digital audio interface now understands (unlike even the 615S) all formats including DTS, that I can finally be looped through all HDMI sources digitally to the TOS-Link output and need only one cable to the devil decoder instead. previously 3!
- Small downer 1: LG-typical operation (menu very confusing and interleaved) and the abysmal documentation. Alone in the face of about two dozen adjustable image parameters a useful manual would have been desirable ... oO
- Downer 2: The supplied DNLA player is indeed much better than its predecessor (he can now play at least anamorphic material), but is still a piece of the quality and 100% compatibility my external player (LG BDP420 or Seagate FAT + ) away. But now at least halfway for everyday use. In 615er he was wg. various bugs almost useless ...
- The Magic Remote: Well, I like them, if only because I finally my Blu-ray player (also by LG) can thus mitbedienen reasonable. The precision of the "cursor" is certainly consistently good, also from the many places mentioned "agonizingly slow" menus etc. I could not find anything, the operation is logical is not always optimal, but technically entirely liquid, in the Smart TV range.
- Blockbuster in Smart TV range is the way of the full-fledged Internet browser, with which you can even watch most streams from websites directly on TV (although not all online players seem to be compatible with the installed version of Flash, but that's really a little thing that you can accuse the TV difficult given the diversity in the network).
Conclusion:. 55 "diagonal with terrific picture quality and ultra smooth 3D for less than 1000 euros If you are looking after, can with this device here not go far wrong who feels insecure of the nagging professionals who may two concerns: a.) Will cost Thing now times below 1,000 euros - in this price range you can now times not expect perfection b) Even devices that cost many times have your quirks more expensive the equipment is, the more annoying So if for a good compromise between price and performance tested.!. can confidently strike here and who is one of those who sit with a magnifying glass in front of every television and search for "defects" ... well, which is then anyway so never really help ..;.)
POSTSCRIPT: Now that I've run it for a while, here are a few little notes about "image quality and settings": I now have experimented once with the settings a bissl and found (unsurprisingly) that we also in this television can drag the image quality quite in the basement due to incorrect settings. Unfortunately, the manual gives diesbzgl not look like much ...
- What you should do _not_ better in my experience: einjustieren him with a traditional PAL test pattern. After I had done that, the picture was far too weak and low in contrast with virtually all sources and looked simply dam ... from. You can leave lighting and contrast for most sources confidently to "100" - the panel appears on these "extreme" settings to be optimized in terms of black level and contrast. The brightness should be (as I know from other LCDs) better left in the low range - any turning up here usually leads only to the fact that the image increasingly looks dull and washed out - something between 25 and 35 is sufficient.
- There are two noise-reduction features. Once only "noise reduction" and then again a separate "MPEG Noise Reduction" (which is to say whatever the ...). The latter can be put safely to stop, but the visual effect is very low. The former, however, caused especially in very dark scenes with fast movements clearly discernible "ghosting" of moving objects that can already be very disturbing, depending on severity. I would recommend to just leave this function to "Off".
- The True-motion function is a matter of taste - I personally am not a fan of the SOE (Soap Opera effect), especially as he tends in hectic scenes to produce artifacts. An attitude that I myself regard as optimal: One can 'De-Blur "confidently put on 10 and allows for" De-judder "to zero. So you benefited a little from the advantages of 100HZ panel (movements and panning effect actually slightly sharper than before) and still has zero SOE - with movies for me that is a good compromise.
- What I can, however, only strongly advise against completely, which is so-called "local dimming".! So the function is certainly nice thought, it makes it worse rather than better mE eigtl. It tends namely even in the lowest setting to produce bright "islands" that can be very annoying, depending on image content. (Or similar lantern in prison) especially in dark scenes with punctual light sources attracts the local dimming vertical bright "clouds strip" over the entire screen height (incl. Letterbox edges!), What looks really stupid! I have the Local Dimming now shut down completely and am always very satisfied with the picture. The small, the used Edge LED technology owed Macken (eg in a simple yet brightened corners of the screen) can I get over a device in this price class. (Who is not here "passible", probably a couple of bucks more needs for a backlight or equal OLED output.) Personally, I can live with it.
- Dynamic Contrast - I have now tested it with various films and let him present to "Medium" - I was skeptical at first, but the Algorhitmus works but very good and unobtrusive (no visible "Pumps" etc.) and also brings out qualitatively less grandiose sources still a very good contrast out.
Of course everything is ultimately also a bissl matter of taste, but I have found that the image quality still can be optimized quite a bit with all the above-mentioned small dots.
