As usual with Amazon, the delivery was prompt 2 days after the order, as always unbeatable, but the knowledge that we already.
Unpacked the new Kleine makes a pleasant shape and after this first impression I got him once 4 hours in rest can refuel power. I do not know how long was really necessary to bring the battery to 100%.
After a few minutes of the initial start was done, the halt usual usernames and setting procedure. The MATS 10.1 '' display, he is by the way also an overall rundumer eye candy.
First was then, a firmware update via the Asus Update Tool on the series. With LAN cable to the router and it went through without any problems.
Next step, driver updates from the ASUS support site. Here Asus has not quite done the homework, as some updates given there for the 1005HA-M could not be installed, including an updated version of the WLAN driver. For there but equal a tool for customizing the background image of Win7, what appears to be a major problem of the Community is here yes. ;-)
The some driver updates, however, was irrelevant failed because unlike Asus, this time Microsoft shines nerdy. After almost 450 Mbyte Standard updates the installation of various drivers have been following the same also proposed and behold, a current for the installed WLAN chip was among them. Compliments to Redmond! (Unbelievable that I write something once ...)
Now for the annoying part. Uninstall. After half an hour nonsensical temporary office, virus scanner and similar trials, and pseudo Games were removed.
Then install nor the standards such as Firefox, Thunderbird & Co and now: A pile of desktop data and settings! A click on 'Network' and already there was the shared folders in sight. Relevant Files and MozBackup were then transmitted or recorded in a few minutes.
A quick check whether the camera is working (Skype is already installed) or the external speakers to get a decent signal via the audio output. Everything 1a!
Now the daily test. Surfing, emailing, watching videos, rudimentary image editing, etc., while keeping in mind the Task Manager. Everything runs smoothly and the RAM usage never rose above 600 Mbyte. I will therefore not upgrade the RAM only once, as this logically will not bring speed advantage. This test I recommend to all who are thinking in advance about a RAM expansion.
Another note about the battery. After the above-described hard disk shelves Rödel and the everyday simulation over WLAN, the level is still 2.5 hours remaining time. Should the be really so, we are talking of almost 9 hours battery life, wow!
Conclusion: smooth working at netbook adequate tasks and a very long breath. The price performance ratio is IMHO a unique win-win situation.
